Yellow Brick Road presents A YBR CHRISTMAS

On Saturday November the 26th 2005, YBR returns once again to see out a year of massive growth. To celebrate, we're throwing a Christmas party bigger and better than any previous YBR has ever seen. In fact, were confident that this YBR will have such a great lighting and laser set up that it will blow away any of our previous setups.

Returning to the powerstation (35 Mt Eden Rd) YBR will be giving the venue a christmas make over and ensuring we make the most of everything we have to work with. With a Christmas surprise for you, we bring you something the all age scene has never experenced before and if you wanna know what it is, you'll have to come on the night as its our christmas present to you and it wont be opened till the night.

With 6 hours to entertain, YBR will be kranking it hard all night and to celebrate Christmas we'll also be giving away presents through out the night. In addition to this, YBR brings you our cheapest of cheap drink prices, air conditioned comfort, 2 themed rooms, big screen projector, 10 dj's and the addition of our new area.

Lets sum this up.

I would actually go but i've got a mates 18th to attend to, which has an 80's theme, so yeah...should be all dressed up. Since i'll most likely be driving and they're going to town afterwards, I may came for the latter part of YBR.

Argh...I leave to go for a holiday on the 26th -.-''
Anyways, if I could go, looks like I'd stay in the 'second room' all night...that is one tight line up. Smile

Lack of demand? Er...you were outside BK, it's not like they were official presales Razz

I'm sure if you listed them at Sounds or somewhere then you'd get them sold Smile

Ticket sales are a hard concept. For example, if YBR were to make $15 tickets available officially through Sounds / Ticketek etc.. They can't touch the money until the day after the event. So, for example if they sold 100 x $1500, that's $1500 that a) has to be paid into a company account b) is taxable c) comes with booking fees, inside fees, credit card fees and manufacturing fees (printing) and d) the money will be kept in a trust and won't be available until the day after the event.

Now most wouldn't consider that an issue, but when $1500 pays all your dj's cash-in-hand it makes things a lot harder when you have to wait a day, just to pay them..

Also, the booking fees are generally $2 - so that brings your $15 ticket price to $17. Of your $15 generally there is a $1 or $2 inside fee from the Ticketing company.. So that leaves you with $13. Then if people decide to use Credit card, expect another 2% fee incurred.

What Callanderkid did last time is the easiest option - albeit its open to fraudalent activities and isn't as professional as one would hope, but it served its purpose.

I'm confident YBR will be successful even without the Ticket sales.. I guess you just gotta roll-in early to avoid the cues Wink

couldnt of put it better my self.

also last time was a bit of a test to see how many sold and how popular it was. We realise we would sell more through a proper agent but basically its not worth it with the low numbers we would sell.

Also last time we didnt sell out on the night. if numbers grow again and we get to a point where we will, we certainly will look at presales again.

I put that down to the new venue. This time people know where it is Smile
[quote]
Yeah I know what you mean, just saying that selling presales outside BK at differing times wouldn't get an indication as to how many people would buy pre-sales, thats all. Smile
