Well...just about another year done and dusted and with the silly season just around the corner the X-plicit crew are gonna add to the festivities with X-plicit X-mas.
To help us in our mission to bring you the Mother Mary of all X-mas parties we've enlisted the help of Christ himself...well close...Crisis from Christchurch actually!!
Crisis (AKA Chris Scott) is a rising star of the New Zealand dance scene. Since securing his first gig at the age of just 15; Chris has set his home town of Christchurch, and the rest of New Zealand on fire with a distinct and irrefutable energy. Be it DJ sets, Production, or Event Promotion; Hard Dance, Psy, Trance, Electro or any of a multitude of other styles – Crisis is swiftly making a name for himself as one of Aotearoa’s premium purveyors of exciting dance music.
The Crisis sound was forged in the diversity and kineticism of the Christchurch All Ages scene. Starting his career with regular sets at Base nightclub’s infamous Club NRG underage nights, in 2003 Chris moved on to begin running his own all ages events with Nitrate Entertainment (& business partner Sebastian Wild). Four years later Nitrate had grown into one of New Zealand's largest all ages promoters, hosting over 30 events; including one nationwide tour and consistent sell-outs throughout 2007.
Still just 21 years of age, Chris's DJing has already taken him all over the country with frequent sets in Wellington and Auckland, and has seen him play alongside massive international acts such as Phil Reynolds, James Lawson, Paul Glazby, Phil York, Defective Audio, Kyau & Albert, Lange, Paul Maddox, Sean Tyas and many more. Not content with only playing for other promoters, turning 18 has also seen Chris (& Sebastian) launch promising new brand Global, and take over the Christchurch branch of international hard dance powerhouse, Fevah.
Crisis is best known for his inimitable blend of UK Hard Dance, Full-On Psy, Trance and Techno; mixing influences and scenes to create unique, unpredictable and uplifting DJ sets that are proving irresistible to clubbers everywhere and really must be heard to be believed. With energy and personality to burn, Crisis is committed to bringing crowds Dance music as they’ve never heard it before.
Meanwhile, over the last 2 years, Chris has also expanded his sound to include Electro House and Breaks, with hip hop and commercial tendencies. Knowing how to slow things down and bring a healthy measure of funk is rapidly expanding Chris’s following in his home town of Christchurch, and makes him an incredibly versatile DJ who carries tunes to please even the toughest of dancefloors.
His production ability has also been recognized, first by TMET Digital, who snapped up his collaboration with Focus, ‘Techno Monkey’, for release in June 2006, giving Chris his first release before his 18th Birthday. ‘Techno Monkey’ is a searing Hard Dance / Techno hybrid which proved very popular, peaking at #2 in the Trackitdown.net Hard Dance Top10. After a couple of years honing his skills solo; Crisis is writing more than ever and aiming for big things in 2009. Keep an eye out for more Crisis releases coming very soon including ‘Ghetto-Tech,’ a hot new Tech-Dance collaboration with Sebastian Wild (forthcoming on Southern Cross Music) and his pounding psy-edged hard dance remix of Focus – Liquid.
