X-plicit is turning 5 on 27-Jun-09 and that can only mean one thing...we’re off to school – well, we’re off to the studio actually...Studio 9 to be exact!! That’s right, you’re not hearing things...we’re heading right back to where it all began; Studio 9 and the 9 Bar!!

For those of you who can remember back that far (??) Studio 9 & the 9 Bar were the corner stone of clubbing in Wellington when clubbing was cool, when clubbing was going off, when clubbing was underground!

The X-plcicit crew reckon it’s about time we went ‘Back to the Underground’ and to help us do that, and obviously celebrate turning 5, we’ve chosen a mean line-up made up of some of Wellington’s finest DJ’s who will take you on a journey from house all the way through the genres until we end up at harddance!!

Studio is back in action!?!?

Nah it's certianly not being developed into apartments that for sure.

It's back as a bar/club and is in the process of being renovated and effectively re-launched which is due to happen a bit later on this year...exciting times ahead I'm picking for that end of town.

RedBull are sorting us out with their kick arse sound system so that will be in he main room and we've got an equally mean rig for the 9 Bar...safe to say the sound won't be a problem that's for sure

Ok folks , less than three weeks to go now til X-plicit takes one step forward and one giant step back...the one step forward being turning the big FIVE; and the giant step back being taking it all the way back to the underground and all the way back to Studio9, yee-fukn-haa!!!!

Now this is a birthday with a difference...instead of receiving gifts, this time we'll be giving them away! The first 60 people through the door will receive a FREE CD mixed by one of the X-plicit residents. Me, Bigbird & Nameci will be mixing an exclusive CD so you can celebrate X-plicit turning five over and over and over (you get the idea) again!! So there'll be 20 copies of each of our CD's to give away. It'll be luck of the draw which one you end up with but they'll all be loaded with some of the latest UK Hard Trance tunes on offer with a few classic anthems chucked in for good measure!!

So make sure you get there nice & early to avoid missing out on getting one of these CD's...it'll be worth it I promise!!!

X-Plicit crew + Great sounds + Nathan + Feisty + Bottle of Jager = MASHUP!!!!

Add a couple of lasers into the above mentioned recipe mix (not sure if that goes in before the jager or after - I'd probably say after but doesn't really matter too much !!) a dash of Absolute and I'd that'd be a recipe sure to rise!!

Speaking of Absolute; they are kindly coming to the party, literally, with some pretty damn good drink specials so look out for some mean deals on the good old Vodka & Red Bulls

Yeh bro, it's 'Bring back the underground' NOT 'Bring back the oldskool' so yeh for sure it'll mainly be the latest, freshest, most up-to-date tunes but with some good old classic anthems chucked in so everyone remembers why we got into this in the first place

As far as fresh hard trance goes, I'm all about Carbon Records at the moment - Butcher Boy - Elation; Butcher Boy and Jody 6 - Music Is my Life, Daniel Ro - Tear it Up; all proper UK style hardtrance - tight kicks and percussion, twisted synths, dark melodies. Would love to hear some of this stuff at X-Plicit; blows that distorted German-influenced stuff away IMO

I for one will be playing recent releases from producers like; Iridium, Technikal, Matt Gardner, MDA & Sperical, Edison Factor, Emilio, Nick Rowland, Adrenaline Department...you get the idea

I've heard the Daniel Ro tune and it's definately all good!! Haven't brought it yet but may well do before X-plicit as it definately fits into the genre of the above mentioned producers...mean tune!
