Just to wind you console gamers up I got my Microsoft XBox Console this weekend and the games on it are FARKING amazing! The console just kicks Playstations arse!

I scored myself a PS2 for free about 3 weeks ago and im loving it ! Ive done abit of reading on the XBox and although it is a nicely specked toy it isnt even in the same league when it comes to sales between itself and the good old/new Playstation.

Yeah the Game Cube does look awesome, but I don\'t like Nintendo style games as much (I find them to be quite cartoonie - a generalization I know).

As for price it cost the same as the PS2 did when it first came here, plus i got 3 games and an extra controller free. (And since its only going to be released here in 2 months (at a cost of around AU$750) I can\'t see it being 1/2 the price :p).

The only reason the PS2 has sold more is that Microsoft couldn\'t put out enough units in time, but I don\'t think its going to be a problem soon because they have got the Thais building quicker now for the European release...

I havent had any problems with the freezing of DirectX either, so hopefully it doesn\'t start happening..

And finally about the game selections.... Someone has mislead you in a very bad way. This is one of this things microsoft has done well because they have signed on 200+ big development companies (including Most of the BIG ones) to develop games for it. Also if you know anything about programming consoles you will also be aware of the how much easier and quicker it is to develop games for the XBox then it is for any other console (cept maybe the 3DO), and it uses a similiar API to that of DirectX.

I\'m not much of a games player (having said that, WRC Rally on PS2 is pretty fun), but it will be interesting to watch the battle between Sony and Microsoft.
Sony sells its unit as part of its compete home enterainment package, not just some games machine. I think the original target market has changed a little from the days of Nintendo, Atari, Sega etc.

it may be more nicely speced (733mhz cpu as opposed to ps2\'s 290mhz) but what a lot of people dont realise is that chip arcitecture is differnt, so more mhz doesn\'t exactly mean better. a pentium 350 aint gonna beat the ps2 is it?

another thing. ps2 will most likely die when xbox is out here for a while. already its going down the plug hole in the US with the release of xbox and gamecube. i\'m not suprised either. sony let any bit of garbage be released on their systems which is why there are so many games, and why most of them suck!

ahh well. i\'ve been out of the console ring for a while now. last one i bought was a saturn. ahh the saturn. i loved that. i dont care what anyone says, sega make wicked games.
