I heard about an anthrax scare in Northen Territories lastnight when I got home, and thats when I thought "shit", the west would HAVE to go to war to stamp this kind of thing out. Our generation hasnt had a war, and as a consequence, we see things a little differently from our elders, and I think there is a tendency to look down our noses at our parents and grandparents points of view on such matters, yet if we ended up in a war we may see certain validity in previous generations comments. Off the subject, and I'm rambling crap... What I came here to say is:
It turned out that some of these scares are hoaxes, and I just read a report about hoaxes all over the world. This is a very serious matter, and yet we have fucking imbecels sending joke mail around.
What I really dont get though, is the number of people who deliberatly do harm to others all the time. I just dont get it.
For example, a very scary thing I have heard of in South Africa, is a woman (friend of a friend) who got pricked by a needle stuck in a chair in a cinema. She then discovered a note attached saying "welcome to the world of AIDS"
I've since heard that you have to be wary of such things in places closer to home such as Melbourne.
Why would anyone do such a thing? I just done get it. I'd like to discuss this, but at the same time I dont want to give some nut any ideas, so moderators, feel free to delete this post if it scares you enough. Hmmm, actually, thats a bad way of dealing with issues, is not talking about them ahla Catholic Church & pedophilia and NZ & Suicide (until recently).

Our generation hasn't had a war?.. Think harder. I remember where I was when they announced the Gulf war?..

You wanna talk more about Pedophillia.. hmmmm.. don't know much about it my self.. Wink

1) "Aids Needle" <-- Urban legend

2) "Gulf War" <-- Not our war

3) Australia have just passed legislation to sentence someone up to 10 years for sending 'hoax' Anthrax mail, e.g Talcum powder in a letter etc

I didnt make myself clear I'm sorry.
I meant a world war. And, what I mean about understanding our parents point of view, I mean the fact that we have to understand that not everyone in the world has a live and let live policy in life, and we will have enemys whether we like it or not. Sometimes war cannot be avoided, and waving the white flag and smiling to everyone wont stop people from attacking us.

Also, I dont think the AIDS Needle is an urban legend, it certainly wasnt for my South African friends mothers friend, who was still living there. I think you have to be careful about having faith that people wont do such things, or put something in your drink while your not looking or whatever. Its like a car accident or catching a desiese (or being caught by the police with class A), you think it wont happen to me, and then the reality sets in when you least expect it.
Just be careful!! Smile

I dont really consider the large scale 'Terrorist Attacks' on Afganhistan to be our war either?? Sure, we are supporting and all... But we did with the Gulf war too right??
[quote]
I think we sent hospital staff to the gulf war no combat.

It's america mistake, let them make it by themselves. Did anyone hear america telling india and pakistan to sort out thier differences through diplomacy, negotiation and without resorting to military action. Then tell the taleban there would be no negotiation. Bah!

Its a fricken joke alright. Well.. not the funny kind. One set of rules for us.. another for everyone else! I've seen heaps of CNN lately and honestly the media coverage is almost akin to brainwashing. Its like America says 'Oh but its ok for us to fuck over innocent people cause were right.. their not'. Humph!

mmm.. had NZ sent SAS troops over??
[quote]
I think its all part of Bushes plan for America to take over the world... world domination as it were.
[quote]
Some of our SAS were with the british SAS so we havent directly sent troops.

Y'know, I thought about this last night:
Why is this our war even? Oh thats right, its not Americas war against the teleban, its the worlds war on terrorism. - yeah, okay.... Whatever.
[quote]
hahaha... Yeah thats right Smiley. I think Bush is a wanker.. In the latest speech I saw on CNN he was saying.. 'blah blah blah.. To protect the American people and the American familys'.. I was thinking.. so what about the rest of the world?? What about the european targets?

.. and another thing I noticed is his prolific use of the word 'I'. Its like its a personal agenda huh?
[quote]
Yup gotta agree Bush is a friken idiot, come on ever since his presidency has he done anything right?? managed to totally fuck the chineese off with the spyplane incident, fucked all the other countries over when he refused to sign the anti pollution treaty, totally refusing to talk to the teleban even though they have indicated a willingness to hand over benladen. All i gott say is let have a summer of love!!!! Smile
[quote]
yeah and he looks like a chimp too!
no really have a look.
[quote]
Free Love did you say??? We can go back to the 70's heyday. I think I'm half way there with lotsa splifs and a running through the daisys attitude! Oh, but I'm not really keen on growing long hair again, nor am I about cranking up Led Zeppelin.

.. now, about that free inhibited loving..
[quote]
Yeah i say go the new age hippies, less the insane amounts of acid and floral colured t shirts plus the free inhibited lovin. Have u ever walked on freshly dewy grass in the morning after a nights out? theres nothing like it (random, random). How cool would it be if we all turn out like the hippies of the 60's against bush and his war into peace & love. well it suck being a war 4 sure

i am disgusted that new zealand has supported
america and her bad foreign policy.. i am
disgusted that
"oh yes by the way how about that trade
agreement"
And throwing bombs from afar is it self an act of
terrorism.
And isnt it ironic that israel goes into palestine
territory to get terrorists but america pleads
them to stop and withdraw their troops........funny
how that 25 years worth of oil can disrupt so
much of the world....
(please advise me if I Ill informed here but its
hard to get an independpent source)

i heard the other day that the footage they showed on cnn, (the afghans dancing in the street because they infidel pigs had been brought to their knees, when the planes first crashed into the towers), was actually about 5 yrs old, makes you think aye, america controls the media which is what the world sees, they can mkake up what they like basically, anyone seen "wag the dog"?
[quote]
It wasn't the Afgan's dancing in the street it was actually the Palestinians when the news of the WTC bombing reached them. And it was fresh footage from that day - check out conspiracy theories on www.snopes.com.
Also the Afgan's aren't the ones announcing Jihads on America and the Western World - It's the Taliban who are a Pakistani militant group who have invaded Afganistan and enforced their regime on them.
It's is dissapointing that America and other countries have to go into a country already ravaged and raped by years of war to bomb out an extremist group who have decided to make it their base.
Most members of the Taliban come from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and even Nigeria.
But I do find it strange that the world had pronounced a war on Terrorism and nobody is doing anything about the Irish dissandant miltant groups throwing pipebombs at little girls walking to school.
I think we should all count ourselves lucky to be New Zealanders because we really are sheltered from most of the hate in the world. And I really don't think Islamic extremists are going to single out NZ over other countries and start a anthnrax campaign. I say London'd next cause Tony Blair can't keep his bloody mouth shut!
[quote]
Well, there is progress anyway. The IRA, the militant wing of Sinn Fein, have agreed to a cease fire agreement which means that they have agreed to disarm and surrender their weapons. However, its no secret that most of the attacks in Northern Ireland and the UK in recent times have been carried out by splinter organisations and inviduals like the 'Real Irish Republican Army' so it doesn't mean alot for those people that have felt the effects.
[quote]
Phunky: they do this every year promise to disarm, agree to a timetable then slowly fall behind till the peace process grinds to a halt. Then they have another big round of negotiations, they get some more political power and it repeats with nothing really happening. Throwing pipe bombs as school girls is pretty ....... lame. I wonder if that qualifies as an assault on democracy.... Funny how the US see the IRA as a legitimate negotiating partner.

hmmm yeah...
someone hit this forum with the serious stick, if only the world would just lighten up and become more laid back *like me* then we'd all be too lazy orr too busy having a good time to worry about this crap.. and it would all just go away!
but it's not going to... so yeah continue your debating and i will continue doing my peace rallys
