I drive an old skool vr4 but since the weekend the BOV has been acting pretty weird. Usually when I would change gears I would be able to hear the crisp BOV pshhhh sound and further still I could change up to 3rd and hear it crisply and clearly within 50kms/hr. Now I can berely hear it when changing gears I have to change it into 2nd around 50-60kms/hr to hear it and even then I cant hear it well at all just makes a faith pshhhh sound instead of a loud 1. So biggie WTF is up with my BOV???

Have you got a boost gauge? what boost is it showing before you change gears? is there any other wooshing/air sounds the car is making? Does it still kick when you plant your foot?

I have a boost gauge. My car is running running 18 PSI planning on putting it down to 12 soon. Havnt seen how much its boosting before I change gears. Havnt noticed any unusual sounds and still kicks when I plant my foot down.

If it isnt doing anything else abnormal I would say the best thing to do is have someone rev the car up and watch the BOV under the hood to see what it does when they take their foot off the gas. You should be able to see if its opening much. Usually they open far enough to put a pen in there. If you're not seeing a gap then its not opening enough and you might want to check the hose that runs to the top of it.

Yeah as long as your not getting a loss of power it sounds fine, Id just check the head of the BOV as well for any seizures or blockages, then after that check the lines for any splits Smile
