wtf?! - internet issues

So it appeared that I had no internet because pidgin would not connect to either google talk or msn, and my home page google, would not load in firefox.

But then I tried some other websites, such as... biggie. Works. Google also works from IE.

Any ideas?

Might have been a international problem.

It would be an international issue. We have been under attack for few weeks now. It got to the point where we needed to block all international traffic to resolve the issue. If you have such issues again, just check this link first: http://www.xnet.co.nz/network/

Then it is your computer problem.

More likely international was down but came back up when he tried IE

maaaan you guys must think I'm a dumbass. I checked IE then checked FF and it still didn't work. Nor did pidgin. Then suddenly, they work. Also a download manager didn't work.

I think it's an MS conspiracy!

Actually though I did restart. I left it on overnight to download something the next morning everything had errored, so I switched off the computer and went to work. When I put it back on later that night, it had no net access for about 15 minutes (was busy cooking dinner at the same time). Posted this thread, went back to cooking, then noticed it was back on, cursed it, and um, now I'm here.

Oh also, I started running a virus scan (no result) and midway through net access started.

Was a bit concerned that something was up because the net went down on the weekend at some point, which is quite unusual for me these days, and for one reason or another I suspected that there was a connection (or none as the case may be).

There, that is all the info that I bet you didn't wanna know regarding this subject!
