Not sure if people are going to try and wait to watch this on telly, so updates in here plz! Very Happy

Steven Begleiter has the button. Jeff Shulman puts in another oversized raise to 1,250,000, and this time he finds some action. It comes in the form of Phil Ivey who sends a long stare across the felt before announcing an all-in re-raise. A murmur of nervous cheers and muted applause works its way through the audience.

A few seats over, Joe Cada asks for a count, and the dealer cuts down Ivey's stack of 8,655,000. Cada waits for the exact amount before reluctantly folding out of the way. Shulman had a quick decision, returning his cards to the muck and sending a nice chip-up pot over to Mr. Ivey.

He's up to 10,175,000.

Joe Cada has the button. Steve Begleiter raises to 1.5 million after some early position folds. Antoine Saout is in the small blind and cut outs re-raising chips, making it 4.5 million to go. One Jeff Shulman is out of the way, Begleiter takes about thirty seconds before calling.

Saout checks the {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {9-Hearts} to his opponent, drawing a few raised eyebrows from spectators on the stage. Begleiter ponders that action for a full minute before firing out 6.3 million. It takes Saout less than ten seconds to re-raise all in, for about 21.0 million. Begleiter looks very, very unhappy.

And so into the tank he goes. He seems to be grinding his teeth a bit as he stares down Saout, looking for some indication as to what he's supposed to do. Once the chips are counted down, it's 14.9 million back to Begleiter. Saout is staring at the felt in the same pose he's adopted the whole day, face leaning on his right hand, right elbow using the rail for support.

The theater becomes very, very quiet again. Begleiter is in the tank for two minutes and fifteen seconds before he calls for a huge pot!

Begleiter: {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs}
Saout: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}

Wow, it's a very gutsy call by Begleiter for a monster pot. He gave a short fist-pump when he saw Saout's hand, but this one is anything but decided. Saout has two overcards and the nut flush draw for 15 outs against Begleiter's one pair. The crowd goes bonkers when a heart comes in on the turn, {10-Hearts}, giving Saout the nuts and an unbeatable hand. The {K-Clubs} on the river is just an added insult for Begleiter.

The Frenchman's supporters are suddenly very vocal, chanting "Saout! Saout! Saout!" Begleiter's fans on the stage try to give him a pick-me-up with their patented "BEGS! BEGS! BEGS!" chant but it's drowned out by the jubilant French.

Ya I know Neutral

Pretty much the worst FT ever :s
Saout should've won, if not Ivey obv.. Sad
[quote]
Wouldnt it be fair to say though, that based on what we saw...Ivey really wasnt on his game at all. Theres was that unreal winning flush muck... and he just generally didnt seem to have a handle on what the worst of the amatuers were up to

So it was a bad ad for the game being a game of skill not only cos of Moon sucking but cos the supposed best player in the world didnt really play like one

I think Andrew Liechenberger should have won. Embarassed But he played JJ
[quote]
Ivey also got some fucken horrible hands.

But yeah in the end it just proved that there is no skill in poker and anyone can win.

Yeah, I don't recall him making a mistake (besides getting his money in as big favourite which is like the worst mistake ever at that FT Razz)

Also, he says "call" in the funniest accent ever Very Happy

One thing about the coverage that I didn't get was the Begleiter -- Saout hand where Begleiter had middle pair and Saouot had A-Kh with flush draw and two overs: ESPN %'s had this as coin-flip on the flop (exactly 50-50), but isn't Saout like heavy favourite here? He has 15 outs twice, which is a bit more than 60% favourite, right?

You're not counting Begs' re-sucks though. He's about a 60% favourite to hit, but not necessarily to win (i.e. he could hit a King on the turn, but then 8 or 7 on river etc). To win the hand, it is a dead flip Smile
[quote]
Hmm I just ran it through the Cardplayer calculator... they've got it as 51/49.

Flop was 8h 9h 3c, so Begs had backdoor flush too.

Also, ESPN possibly could've been factoring in card removal, if people already folded a heart or king etc.

I was going to add my piece on it being a weird final table but then thought about it more in relation to all the sunday millions final tables that I have watched and it was standard if you think that the play exhibited is the currently accepted style of modern tournement poker play = thoughts anyone.

in other news just redeposited on Full Tilt - going to give it another crack
