Guess who just got the last seat on the 4.5hr bus down from shitty Paihia with nothing but a sweatshirt and a book, waited in a queue in front of the St James for two+ hours and scored one of the few door sales. Yes, me! WOoooooooooo!

And of course, across the road into a cyber café. Yeah well, no pass outs until 2am, so shuddup. Razz

Anyway, a big thanks to Smiley for trying to hook me up with tickets - you rock man. Razz I\'m fucking pumping, now to go and up my Red Bull supply.....
[quote]
Oh yeah, and big ups to the other seven or so guys who waited with me at the front of the queue for a couple of hours - maybe some of you guys are Biggies. Razz

I hope everyone has a wicked NYE....... woooooooooo. *excitement abounds*

HERE WE GO!!!!! On my way now... party is on!

Lightspeed was fantastic Smile
[quote]
I just loved Lightspeed and would rate it as one of the best events I\'ve been to. Atmosphere was great, tunes were amazing and the layout was really good too. Just loved grooving around the regent which I hadn\'t been into before. Just LOVED the night
[quote]
The atmosphere and music at Lightspeed was absolutly amazing, agreed by all.
One question however, for the $80 so dollar ticket price + 4000 people, in my opion and the expressed views of many people I talked to on the night, the level of production didn't meet up with expectations.
No big screen visual's in the cheeky monkey trance room, come in guys? A wee bit more production please.
[quote]
loved it, loved it, loved it.

dont mind paying $80 for an event when everyone seemed to smile all night.

Smile
[quote]
It was a super-dooper night!! Atmosphere in the trance room at midnight was unbelievable.
But I too would have to question production and organisation no matter what the price, but for $90 it was piss poor. It was too packed to move at Ian Pooley and they had to stop ppl going in for a few minutes Sad
[quote]
Lightspeed was absolutely fabulous. Ian Pooley was just amazing and so was everyone else for that matter. I would have to say that it was def too packed though. I have also spoken to other friends who have been to previous nice n urlich gigs and have told me what a great show they put on in regards to dancers and other little extras but i saw none of this and would also have to agree that an absolute minimum effort had being put in to production.
Those points aside though, i really had a great night. The music definitely made it! and the people of course!
[quote]
No dancers? No extras? No dancers?
Did you not catch the Cheeky Monkey dancers dressed like the ones in Kylie Minogue's video? They were out on stage about 3 different times. Also a troupe of about 7 Latin drummers/percussionists. And Nathan Haines playing flute over the top of Jon Cutler - "It's Your's."
I know I was farked but I'm sure I didn't imagine all that.
Can't wait for Ian Pooley @ Robodisco - Grand Circle on the 19th!
[quote]
And there were the guys with all the neon lights all over them, they rocked!
[quote]
Ian Pooley playd Music Sounds Better With You!!(!!!)
[quote]
Some visual screens would of completed the setup and made the night perfect. Can\'t say I really missed them but for $80 you\'d be hoping to get some at least.
I went to my work party in November and they had Soane and OB1 DJing and there were even cool visuals. Now if work can do that then surely Lightspeed could of too.
But the night really rocked and far be it for me to complain!
[quote]
And biggup Dick Johnson for continuing even after they turned the P.A. off!!
[quote]
Look out for the photos from lightspeed. I took a few of those dancers with neon all over them. Its amazing!
[quote]

Itchy - Cheers for the ticket, there were no probs with it at all. Wasnt it a wicked night !? I\'ll have to buy you that drink at the next event.

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves whether they went to Slinky/Lightspeed or both Smile
[quote]

Oh and man word to those xl\'s happy as hell and with a trippyness factor to it
[quote]
Yep booogy, the trance room was fucken wikkid at about 12, General Lee had everyone charging hard!!
[quote]
Great party, Ian Pooley was the fucken man.
Had a nice time sitting on the bean bag in the corner which had exploded up in the Westend lounge, fuck it felt good sticking my hand inside it!
Big up the XL\'s! Mashed!
[quote]
Hey, I haven\'t seen anyone mention this but what was the fucking deal in the main room at Lightspeed with the fucking sound system?

It was clipping! And there was mass feedback through the mic as well, once they switched to the decks on the main stage (rather than the set on the balcony). Maybe I\'ve missed someone else commenting on this, but it was fucking nasty shit.....

The trance room upstairs (sorry I don\'t know official names, I\'m from Wgtn, so go figure), however, was fucking ace, and if you wanted it a bit quieter you could just go back further up the stairs/seated area, which was a nice luxury I though. Very Happy

But that clipping, fucking hell.... that was shocking.
[quote]
Yay someone else heard it to,was going to mention it but i was'nt sure if it was just me.
They could've gotten away with it a few times but it kept on happening...

sack the soundman
[quote]
Yeah! Gezzz, here was no way I was imagining that. Can\'t believe no-one else has complained/moaned. Maybe it got lost among the high everyone was on? (that\'s okay, if so)

It was a nightmare anyway, quite painful to the ear, literally.
[quote]
I had a ball... and actually managed speech (not like the meetup @sanchez *ahem*)

My main grumble: the nite went too damn FAST.

Always happens.

Lovely to meet a few people; the whole faces/names thing happening... :0) I must have had my "I am just chicken" conversation with so many folks... (including the lovely rubberchicken and the friend -of-my-good-friend mr fish...)

Go lightspeed for atmosphere and line-up - (the atmosphere has a lot to do with the punters - but the line-up brings those punters in! - I love being a punter)

The sound level in pooleys area (regent??) was PERFECT. Never had it so good: loud enough to shut your eyes and feel only the music around you - but not so loud you can't communicate with people and no danger of your ears bleeding....!!!

:0)
[quote]
I heard the noises too - and boy they kept making me jump! Wasn\'t til today a friend told me they were actually intentional noises synchronised with some kind of fireworks special effects?? Sounded awful though
[quote]
If you stood in the middle of the Regent the sound was too quiet I thought. A set-up similar to that in the Westend would have sorted this out. I can\'t imagine how quiet it must\'ve been down the back of the room.
I thought the sound in the main room (were n\'u were) was the best of the lot. I heard clipping (or popping) only in the Westend? Maybe it only happened when they changed the DJ position round?
[quote]
Oh right, just read mikes post properly Smile
[quote]
Buggar VoiceInsideYou - i was told you came and lookin for you to say hello... You were with Smiley in the main room but i couldn\'t find you.. Do you wear glasses Voice? It would have been so nice to have met you oh well,....
Litespeed was very very very GOOD with the aid of enhancement it makes it sound exaggerated Very Happy
[quote]
Haha, gezzz, I didn\'t know what was going on. Smiley was running around trying to fucking talk to people on his cell and find people (Miss L, etc) but I was just following him around.

People knew I was coming? Strange, since /I/ only knew I was coming when I fluked a door sale. Very Happy

And yes, I have got glasses. I think I was wearing blue engineered jeans and a black tight T with my black spikey semi-mohawked hair. Small guy looking annoyed at clipping and popping type noises and getting jostled around. And no way was that shit fireworks. It was nasssssty!

But good to hear you had a good night Seren. Smile
[quote]
Ok if you were wearing a biggie sticker and you have blonde spikey hair then this was you sitting outside when i was panicking about the discovery of my bubblegum ass Razz
[quote]
Nope, no sticker, and not blonde hair for me.

Bubblegum ass = bad. I hate people who leave gum around. Grrrrrr. Use a bin, people.
[quote]
oh okay Sad sorry voiceinsideyou--- there were so many people wearing biggie stickers that weren\'t biggies .... hmmm i did manage to lose four stickers so maybe the people wearing them were scabbers and picking up the ones i lost--- BUGGA MAN Sad
