WOooOooOoo! Liiightspeed!

Guess who just got the last seat on the 4.5hr bus down from shitty Paihia with nothing but a sweatshirt and a book, waited in a queue in front of the St James for two+ hours and scored one of the few door sales. Yes, me! WOoooooooooo!

And of course, across the road into a cyber café. Yeah well, no pass outs until 2am, so shuddup.

Anyway, a big thanks to Smiley for trying to hook me up with tickets - you rock man. I\'m fucking pumping, now to go and up my Red Bull supply.....

Oh yeah, and big ups to the other seven or so guys who waited with me at the front of the queue for a couple of hours - maybe some of you guys are Biggies.

I hope everyone has a wicked NYE....... woooooooooo. *excitement abounds*

Lightspeed was fantastic

I just loved Lightspeed and would rate it as one of the best events I\'ve been to. Atmosphere was great, tunes were amazing and the layout was really good too. Just loved grooving around the regent which I hadn\'t been into before. Just LOVED the night

The atmosphere and music at Lightspeed was absolutly amazing, agreed by all.
One question however, for the $80 so dollar ticket price + 4000 people, in my opion and the expressed views of many people I talked to on the night, the level of production didn't meet up with expectations.
No big screen visual's in the cheeky monkey trance room, come in guys? A wee bit more production please.

It was a super-dooper night!! Atmosphere in the trance room at midnight was unbelievable.
But I too would have to question production and organisation no matter what the price, but for $90 it was piss poor. It was too packed to move at Ian Pooley and they had to stop ppl going in for a few minutes

Lightspeed was absolutely fabulous. Ian Pooley was just amazing and so was everyone else for that matter. I would have to say that it was def too packed though. I have also spoken to other friends who have been to previous nice n urlich gigs and have told me what a great show they put on in regards to dancers and other little extras but i saw none of this and would also have to agree that an absolute minimum effort had being put in to production.
Those points aside though, i really had a great night. The music definitely made it! and the people of course!

Did you not catch the Cheeky Monkey dancers dressed like the ones in Kylie Minogue's video? They were out on stage about 3 different times. Also a troupe of about 7 Latin drummers/percussionists. And Nathan Haines playing flute over the top of Jon Cutler - "It's Your's."
I know I was farked but I'm sure I didn't imagine all that.
Can't wait for Ian Pooley @ Robodisco - Grand Circle on the 19th!

And there were the guys with all the neon lights all over them, they rocked!

Some visual screens would of completed the setup and made the night perfect. Can\'t say I really missed them but for $80 you\'d be hoping to get some at least.
I went to my work party in November and they had Soane and OB1 DJing and there were even cool visuals. Now if work can do that then surely Lightspeed could of too.
But the night really rocked and far be it for me to complain!

And biggup Dick Johnson for continuing even after they turned the P.A. off!!

Look out for the photos from lightspeed. I took a few of those dancers with neon all over them. Its amazing!

Hey, I haven\'t seen anyone mention this but what was the fucking deal in the main room at Lightspeed with the fucking sound system?

It was clipping! And there was mass feedback through the mic as well, once they switched to the decks on the main stage (rather than the set on the balcony). Maybe I\'ve missed someone else commenting on this, but it was fucking nasty shit.....

The trance room upstairs (sorry I don\'t know official names, I\'m from Wgtn, so go figure), however, was fucking ace, and if you wanted it a bit quieter you could just go back further up the stairs/seated area, which was a nice luxury I though.

But that clipping, fucking hell.... that was shocking.

Yay someone else heard it to,was going to mention it but i was'nt sure if it was just me.
They could've gotten away with it a few times but it kept on happening...

It was a nightmare anyway, quite painful to the ear, literally.

Lovely to meet a few people; the whole faces/names thing happening... :0) I must have had my "I am just chicken" conversation with so many folks... (including the lovely rubberchicken and the friend -of-my-good-friend mr fish...)

Go lightspeed for atmosphere and line-up - (the atmosphere has a lot to do with the punters - but the line-up brings those punters in! - I love being a punter)

The sound level in pooleys area (regent??) was PERFECT. Never had it so good: loud enough to shut your eyes and feel only the music around you - but not so loud you can't communicate with people and no danger of your ears bleeding....!!!

I heard the noises too - and boy they kept making me jump! Wasn\'t til today a friend told me they were actually intentional noises synchronised with some kind of fireworks special effects?? Sounded awful though

If you stood in the middle of the Regent the sound was too quiet I thought. A set-up similar to that in the Westend would have sorted this out. I can\'t imagine how quiet it must\'ve been down the back of the room.
I thought the sound in the main room (were n\'u were) was the best of the lot. I heard clipping (or popping) only in the Westend? Maybe it only happened when they changed the DJ position round?

Litespeed was very very very GOOD with the aid of enhancement it makes it sound exaggerated

And yes, I have got glasses. I think I was wearing blue engineered jeans and a black tight T with my black spikey semi-mohawked hair. Small guy looking annoyed at clipping and popping type noises and getting jostled around. And no way was that shit fireworks. It was nasssssty!
