Don't think so. I remember my car with split boots getting passed before. CV grease could get onto the brakes which would be deemed a safety issue. Prolly depends on the place.
marua road g.a.s in ellerslie will probably pass it, if they passed my car with very cut springs, 5% tints and a loud as hell exhaust Im sure a c.v wont matter lol
From memory they will fail spit boots but not clicking CV joints. However it's worthwhile sorting it out anyway as I think it can be a safety issue - from experence.
An old car of mine nearly went into a tree when the joint snapped. A mate was driving I was in the passenger seat (gotta love those non-drinkers) and it pulled the wheel from his hands.
