well last time i took it VTNZ and they gave me a failed list as long as my arm... so took it somewhere to get fixed and they told me there was nothing wrong . they also did the WOF for me, but i can't go there again as they aren't open saturdays.

VTNZ can be pricks. Was it the one on new north road?

Usually I'm an advocate of getting a proper test to ensure your safety and the safety of others on the road, but I have had a few gripes with VTNZ and On Road and their lack of service or "odd" interpretations.

i went to that one. My park lights failed, but it turns out I hadnt flicked them properly

go to the on road testing station at westgate, i went to one in town with my old car where they failed me on 3 really lame, minor things but would've cost about $600 to fix but totally not worth it cos of the year of the car. so went to westgate where they passed me

its a little bit of a drive but go to marua road g.a.s in ellerslie, they will pass pretty much anything with 4 wheels

would just like to add a comment re WOF's and VTNZ specifically relating to my Suzuki Intruder.
I'd already had it serviced including the front brakes being bled and yet the guy failed it saying there was excessive travel. He said he could squeeze it all the way in. Well I couldnt and anyway I would be well on the tarmac or arse over head if I ever did that. So I got another opinion and they said they would have passed it. But interestingly they told me once it was failed at the VTNZ it was 'in the records and couldnt be passed anywhere else!'
So I took it back to VTNZ and the (different) guy never even squeezed it - he just got me to demonstrate that it worked well , which it does of course (I do want a good front brake)

I was told once that if I had foglights fitted, they had to work (one was broken)
So I removed the foglights and was passed

I have been to On Road up in west gate for probably 5+ years and never had any issues
