Windows7

So Windows7 is out and a bunch of us will have downloaded and installed it by now...

What have you noticed thats better than RC? My list so far:

- Even MORE refined, windows and browsing even quicker than RC
- Networking instantly found all the devices on my network including NAS and Macs, mounted the network drives reaaaaally well.

If you've got old hardware, get Windows7 on it quick-smart!

Won't be out to general public till October but have to agree. I just upgraded Jo's laptop to W7 Ultimate from Vista and the performance difference is HUGE.

Why use Windows when you got OSX Anyways, I didn't know you could download it already? Are you blokes on MSDN or what? I will have to check my Action Pack download centre thingy they forced upon us.

OSX is still better than Windows7, but only just, yes we have MSDN subs. Took most of the day to download its so slow, you're better to get it off NZB and just use your MSDN key WDB :p

Only just pulling RTM down now (and waiting for the MLVS site to not shit itself when I request a MAK key), but chiming in on the older hardware thing.

Have tried the RC on a P4 3.0ghz/1gb RAM machine, and it's as fast as XP.

Tried it just yesterday on an AMD Semperon 3200/1gb machine and the only thing that I could fault it with was a slight lag on some of the UI visual effects thanks to the shitty integrated video.

Hrm might have to do that, fair to say i'll do a bunch of them in the next few years!

Only trap is it seems most BIOS are a bit dumb, and you need to yank the usb key at time of first reboot, otherwise it tries to boot off there again instead of the hard drive to complete the install.

I only just noticed that Pro doesn't have games installed by default. Receptionists around the country will revolt without their Solitaire! Stupidly, it still has the Games program group, just empty.

Theyre probably not counting on receptionists making up a core contingent of the beta testers

"Windows Easy Transfer" for copying profile from old machine to new machine is fucking sweet. From 7RC laptop to 7RTM, it even moved my Firefox profile, down to add-ins and even the tabs I had open.

so have they have resolved the disconnecting network drive issue?
