Andy Murray looking good for the win...

It must be guttinh to be Murray... Any other time he'd probably sneak a Grand Slam or two, but he's playing with the best ever and his biggest challenger, both of whom rarely slip up in Slams. Add Djok to the mix and it looks impossible.

When I say it must be gutting I mean in the context of clearly ungutting it would be to be a top 5 touring pro.

And especially since the times he's made the finals he's been undone pretty badly by his opponents.

If you need any proof that Wimbledon draws are rigged.. Remember last year's epic long match between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut... Well, they are drawn to play each other in the 1st round.... what the...?

64 first round matches .. if you remove the ones which cannot happen (seed playing each other) that leaves about 30-40 possible matches, drawn at random... and these guys conveniently end up in a rematch made for heaven.

Nadal/Murray on the same side or the draw and Djokovic/Federer on the other.

Federer favoured at NZ TAB to win @ $3. Nadal @ $3.40... Guess Federer should just hope that someone else knocks Nadal out and he'll be fine!

Well, aside from playing like a mug for most of the first set, yeah. First round matches for the top 4 all went pretty well.

Lucky shots like that can't compare with pure genius like this.....

Wow, anyone still want to argue that the woman's game generates the same TV/ticket revenue as the men's?

Why would they do that Jono? Demand for men's tennis outstrips women's more than 10 to 1 (according to on-demand TV coverage of US Open a few years ago).

Federer - gotta hand it to him, he hit miles fewer unforced errors than any of his previous matches at this Wimbledon (and it was longer too) and still lost. Tsonga was unplayable on so many key points it was ridiculous. He did to Federer what Federer is used to doing to almost everyone else - playing 1-2-hit tennis. Usually you'd see Tsonga have a few low patches or brain-fades but he was rock solid on serve for for every game after the opening break. Federer didn't even get to a break point otherwise.

If Tsonga can continue to play like that he'll give Djokovic a lot of trouble.

That is the justification given by many pundits for women getting the same prize money as men.

So awesome...imagine if Tomic had beaten Djokovic, that would have been too awesome (knew he wasn't going to though)...might put a casual $20 on Tsonga winning the whole thing, sure, chances are he won't, but the odds should be pretty attractive...

$25 at 8:1 on Tsonga to win...what we, I mean I, need now is Murray to beat Nadal to make it a little bit easier...

He spent up most of his magic against Federer and was just too flat against Djokovic.

Glad to see him win, especially after being #1. That would have been weird. Now he has 3 out of 4 slams and is definitely worthy of his current position in front of Nadal and Federer - it's been an epic year for him. Let's hope for some more epic finals with the current top 3 yet to come.

No he doesn't... 2 Australian Opens, 1 Wimbledon.

Federer will have wry grin today too I imagine. Every slam Djokovic wins is one less Nadal catches up to him....

And, because of the ranking change they go into the hard court season with Federer and Nadal being in the same half of the draw more often than not now too. Will be interesting who can make that to their advantage.

Good to see Nadal's excuse engine was in motion less than 12 hours after loosing.. hairline fracture in his foot - out for 6 weeks.... Now, 2 days later, "no fracture... back in training"..

Djokovic in prime form really... he is going to be the global poster-child for gluten free diets. He discovers he is gluten intolerant, changes his diet late 2010 and since then has lost 1 match.... hard to argue with those results.

Placebo effect. Probably all mental.

He used to fade and often bail out of matches early due to feeling under the weather and never give much of an explanation. He has been quite vocal in saying that his diet change has had a marked effect on his life/training. Whilst I'm sceptical about the regularity that this gluten intolerance thing keeps popping up nowadays, I have to think it's a very real problem for some people!

Saw an odd comment on one of the tennis news sites the other day... Nadal has never once defended any title other than on clay in his career*. That's quite amazing considering how many he's won at Masters 1000 and 500 level.

(*although he's still champ of the US Open so he has a chance to defend that in a few months)
