Or is this some sort of recievers sabre rattling that I dont understand. . Is it to get a buyer for the farm Confused
[quote]
How fucked up is this world if they do.. I mean those cats are so beautiful and endangered ...but oh well there in the way of us selling this crusty farm lets just shoot them all.. Confused
[quote]
Some of them are flat out valuable as well. The white Bengals etc

Im just unsure how killing them would work out, and could def imagine some white knight leaping in at the last minute, either a rich cat lover or a PR seeking corporate or w/e it just seems inconceviable to me that they would actually be killed

I liked the Lion man series and Busch seemed legend to me at the time, but hes very much at fault here for building something so unsustainable. From a business (or any) POV a massive Lion Zoo in Whangarei is absurd
[quote]
cost of maintaining them vs quick and easy disposal of assets

think business gives a fuck for some over eaters? nope

[quote]
God sakes seriously I just don’t understand how it is even LEGAL to kill endangered animals. Why are they not protected. And why is some looney given consent to raise animals on a farm in Whangarei.. where is the logic of sustainability… And where is that Lion Man guy is he off in South Africa looking after their cats when the cats he raised are suffering. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[quote]
why do we have these sorts of animals in our country full stop

[quote]
I wonder how big cats would fare going after things like stoats and rabbits and vermin. DOC could take 'em, stick 'em on infested islands, let them clean up, then tranq them up (since a few big cats on an island should be easy to catch)' move 'em on to the next one. Then, they can reintroduce native species that previously would have been at risk!

Failing that, stick em on an island, have Sam Neill lead tours. What could possibly go wrong?

Kind of like a Big Cat Commando Force. BCCF to the rescue

That doesn't matter, because the islands I'm meaning don't have much in the way of it, because of all the invasive pests. The natives thrive after you remove the pests and repopulate the island.

aha that makes sense

now to find a DOC worker to handle the cats - one whose not facing redundancy due to our progressive govts view on nature

Interesting idea...but I suspect rabbits in particular might be a bit too tricksey and cautious for the bigger cats to actually catch. Pretty sure theres f all rabbits in Africa, although I could be wrong about that

Would be interesting, cats are much better hunters in forests but African Lions have basically evolved hunting on plains and grasslands so it might take them a while to get used to it (those Indian Lions would be sweet but I doubt we have any of them given there are about 100 left in the world). The trouble is a lot of the prey would be too small for the Lions trip and tackle method of hunting. Tigers are more used to forests though so would dominate shit.

I like the idea though but think we should just leave them there and have a Safari Island, every few months send a few hundred deer over there.

But I still don't undertsand how killing these animals is legal, thet are endangered so surely protected by law and probably international law too. Are we really going to be just as bad as Japan?
[quote]
well if they do put them down anyone who uses robobank should take their business elsewhere

No way we would kill 20 defenceless big cats - too emotional an issue

put down 20 dying cats is humane - its all about how you frame it

yeah...I really dlont see it happening at all. I mean....this can be an issue that ruins our internatonal "brand" (ok I that that term here but cant think of another)

I see another bank stepping in to pwn Rabo

From a PR perspective, the ultimatum by Rabo is so incredibly retarded... :/

our international brand... is already in tatters

a few dead cats won't impact it at all

dont agree with that, both statements actually
[quote]
Let them loose in the red zone in chch - wham, no more looters and some well fed pussies.

Would be tragic if they were put down. I reckon someone will step up... Gareth Morgan might have a few $$ left after Blanket mans funeral

What got me was how seemingly nonchalant it came across on the news like.. oh they’re going to PUT THEM DOWN because of this that and the other thing.. WAIT WHAT DID YOU SAY BEYATCH? No one is putting those tigers down cos they want to sell that lame fucking farm what is this planet some sort of KILL ZONE of endangered beautiful tigers.. HELLO time to get the international media involved or someone giving a fuck or some money or something. This kind of shit turns me into a raving lunatic.. What the shit does Greenpeace actually do????? People donate to them what do they do with it.. when I was giving them money all I got from them was a pitiful newsletter about things overseas nothing in NZ? I don’t see them jumping up and down…. What is their point.

Argh.

lol, I bet u ain't as sad when endangered slugs r being keeeled!!! Shawites r so shallow!

cool, I guess you missed all the food miles and 100% pure action that crops up in the UK regularly, the article today saying NZ is an expensive place to visit, the international treaties and other things NZ is doing to fuck with any environmental pride we could once take on the international stage, the wars we support, our pathetic stances taken in the UN of late, what our international aid programme has become in the past 3 years etc etc. etc.

yes I'm a bit ott using the word tatters but we're def on the way to making this our international reality

the oxford union address is a very very long time ago

[quote]
Understand where youre coming from but In most.... if not all of those things you mentioned. 98% of humans have no clue/give no fuck what they are. So our supposed failure in these matters means little to the non-NZ common mans perception of this country

However.... if we kill 30 big cats...you can just about turn that stat around
[quote]
agree with you there - those things I mention may not have damaged us yet... but they will do over time

culling some lions won't be major international news, nor minor for that matter

Couldn't they get some money back by selling hunting rights to kill the cats? I bet there is an Arab prince somewhere who would pay a pretty sum to shoot a white Bengal tiger!
