Will the Bulldogs be booted from the NRL

After having admitted to paying far to much for their players and being approx 1.5 million over the salary cap, do you think its fair for them to be immediatly kicked out of the NRL. Thoughts please...

Basically they have breached an agreement/contract with the NRL. If you are looking at it from a business perspective then they have every right to kick them out of this years competition.

They won't boot them out of the comp, but will dock points or ban them from the playoffs. I think the second option is best as it sends a strong message. Docking points will either be largely pointless as the will still be in the playoffs or have the same effect as banning them from the playoffs without letting them win the minor premiership. It makes the situation a lot tidier. I wonder if they need to have an amnesty after the end of season too as you can be sure other clubs are bending/breaking the rules.

i think they really should be dis-qualified for basically cheating.
The only problem is the inevitable fallout of players sueing the club,the club sueing NRL for lost income etc.Which is exactly what the sport doesn't need with spectators numbers and such on the increase.

yeah, i didnt quite word that correctly - i meant kick em out of this years comp, not completely out of the NRL. Shitty way for us to become No 1, but im not complaining......

The team management should be booted out.

I think those in charge of the club should be punished. I don't think it is really fair on the fans (and maybe the players) if the team was booted out of the competition at this stage.

the players need some beats too... messy, mabee lower the caps for those players by 1.5 million next year hahahah

The way that the clubs are structured, they're run by ex players and large time and work contributors. Kicking out a clubs infrastructure can't really happen due to the nature of the club system.

Any penalty that allows them to continue through to the playoffs is too light a penalty IMO.
Now there is talk of punters who backed the dogs to win the comp looking to sue for lost revenue.
The whole thing looks like its gonna be pretty messy no matter what the outcome.
Not good for rugby league.

Options...

1) Take off points.
2) Fine the club for the amount they over paid their players.
3) Fire the people who snuck them the extra $$$.
4) Kick them out for the remainder of the comp.

They suck! what they have done is as good as having an extra two people on the fielf every time they walk out... I thought they should be fined and kicked out of the comp.

However, why not continue as planned but whatever their final place exempt them from the playoffs and promote the next team?

in a poll of bulldog fans 75% wanted them kicked out :s

considering the possibility of legal action i think the NRL might be scared of kicking them out BUT what they could do is leave them in them in the playoffs but make them the 8th place team so everyone goes up a spot. Then get them to submit a list of the thirteen players that have played the most this season & make them not be allowed to use 2 of them (their choice) for the whole of the play-offs.

that way they should avoid legal action & they'll have to prove that they should be the NRL champs by clawing their way through the finals!

nah, that wouldnt work, coz the top team plays the bottom team so if things stayed the same, the warriors would play the bulldogs :/

By rights they should be, but they won't...

They should be penalised somehow because they have had an unfair advantage over the last 2 seasons (salary caps were introduced to bring fairness among clubs, yet the bulldogs have shown a blatant disregard for this legislation) over other teams that have kept at least close to theirs.

The Bulldogs shouln't finish the season as Minor premiers.

Some of the crap spouted over this has been ridiculous, like the guy from the bulldogs talking about a premiership win being hollow if the bulldogs were booted out. Also canberra complaining about having to play them. Hello, they are bloody lucky in having to play a bulldogs team that won't be motivated at all as they know they will get booted out of the playoffs. A good comment I've heard on this is calling it performance enhancing cash, very similar to taking drugs to get an unfair advantage.

A players agent on the radio this morning was explaining how the procedure works with the salary cap. Basically it means that any player getting extra payments would know if was in breach of the rules as it would have to be a separate contract that wasn't submitted to the NRL. They may plead their innocence but it doesn't wash with me. They muct have known or at least strongly suspected things were a bit dodgy.

Gone even further over the capping they first were accused of !

It Just Gets Worse For Bulldogs

The Bulldogs league salary saga has taken a new and deceitful twist.

In this morning's edition of the Sydney Morning Herald it has been claimed the Bulldogs have hidden details of payments from the NRL auditors, as recent as this week.

The hidden document says payments, including next year's under the table figures will total over $2 million.

League commentator Alan McLaughlin says what the Bulldogs have done is disgusting.

McLaughlin says for the club to be so deceitful is terrible, with the latest details putting a whole new complexion on a bad situation.

NRL chairman John Chalk says the new claims against the Bulldogs means they won't be in the playoffs.

I think the Raiders are justified in their claims, sure the Bulldogs will be unmotivated supposedly but they will still be a team that is over the salary cap. The Bulldogs have an unfair advantage and the Raiders are justified in not wanting to compete against a team that had admitted to cheating and yet will still be able to play its team of star players.

It's entirely unfeasable that the players didn't know about it. A player knows his worth approx and if all clubs offer him say $350,000 but another offers him $200,000 with a promise of *another* $250,000 in *other* ways.. only a stupid league player would not realise that.. Oh.. I forgot, they're league players.

The players should be punished actually in this case, by kicking the team out of the top 8 no matter what their place after the rounds...

Because it will make many of them want to leave the club that risked a season of their career by cheating. This would have the effect of levelling the playing field for next year also which would be a fortunate side-effect.

I think that the NRL management needs stricter monitoring of the salary cap process before its too late and problems like this arise, or did the Bulldogs just try to pull the wool over everyones eyes?

All this stuff about the players/fans/coaches shouldn't suffer is stupid. Its a team game ffs. If one of the players screws up and loses a game in the last minute, they all suffer. Management are just another part of the team. They screwed up so everyone suffers. bye bye doggies.

Just saw on Sky News that the Bulldogs major sponsor has abandoned them.

There goes 50 mil.
