I don't want lounge threads in CA

I like it when politics threads are dumbed-down and in the lounge, cause I'm too scared to debate with the smart people in CA.

Kind of time to look at the sub forum system in general. Worked a few years ago, but something has changed. Personally I don't think forcing topics into less-read forums helps anyone.

They will be moved in here from now on and the rules and purpose in CA will be changing.

CA is dead and having a lounge dominated by politics puts many people off.

This forum serves about 5 people in its current state.

if politics puts people off the lounge - what turns them on?

the politics threads have been some of the more lively for a while.... and I for one enjoy the many differnt perspectives not just the same old small crew (CA)

We cant let politics take over the lounge and forget about the majority of people that are put off by it. Its the same thing for various behaviour in the lounge which has been brought up in the past via discussion. While a small group claim they are the instigators they are also the ones putting the rest off e.g. circular arguments by our repeat offender.

Needs to be moved here unfortunately.

Totally understand change sucks especially with this forum and its history but its completely dead in here now and the lounge is suffering adversely from political overload. This solves two problems in one go.

Biggie will lose a lot of the debate that has been going on as no one but a very few come to CA anymore and I am saddened by that as I enjoy the range of opinions one gets in the lounge

Do the new forums have a newsfeed functionality? Does that even exist anywhere? Wow, what a cool idea if I do say so myself, switch on and off which subforums/topics you like/don't like...

forums as a feed sucks HARD. forums generally move too fast for it to be useful.

Yeah I know what you mean Bob by yeah they are when there is a fair bit of it it does put people off.

Not sure about the feed stuff Smiley. But the new forum is set up to feed Twitter when a topic becomes hot. Not the same but hey it should help in getting people back in there to the busy threads more often.

It's weird to move it here 'cos it seems the politics threads get a lot more traffic than almost any other topic in the lounge...

Uh Smiley, what do you exactly want? A simple RSS feed of the last x topics of each forum should be possible...

possibly a good idea? I dunno about everybody else's forum behaviour, but to me as forums slow down I'll check them less which makes them slow down even more...

clicking through to deadish forums is like paying to get into a club and finding out it's empty.
