I've got a break coming up at work and was gonna go check out Thailand for 10 days or so

Planning to go late June

But isnt it rainy round June/July? And does this matter?

Any reccomendations?

I've only got 10 days so was probably gonna head to Koh Samui and Phi Phi
[quote]
Only go to samui if you like mangy dogs and japanese tourists

the weather will be fine tho..!!

Koh pi pi don is great though, if your really looking for a good beach holiday spen the whole ten days there..!!!

OK, sounds good

You can fly there from Bangkok? Can you do stuff like Elephant trekking there?

My advice is to take the train from Bangkok to Surat Thani, then bus from there. It will only cost like $10 and the service is great. PLUS you get to stand between the (train) cars and have a smoke if you like while watching big lizards and kids playing as you cruise by... staggering Smile

You can fly to Phuket from bangkok...itll cost you about 25-35£ and catch a 3 hour longtail boat to koh phi phi, its a pretty chilled spot, in fact there isnt a single car or scooter on the island...!!!

unfortunatly theres no elephants either, but there is some the most shit hot rock climbing youll EVER see, if thats your thing...!!

You can ride elephants on an island called Koh Chang, tho. If u go there, stay on lonely beach, its by far the nicest Smile

Think I mite go check out koh samui and koh phan ang (sp) .... the one beside it.

probably spend a week there and then maybe go up to Laos

thats koh phi phi lei, the one where they filmed the beach, koh phi phi don has plenty of bungalows, and a small town with all the esentials, joh hang is pretty cool as weel but if you want a really good elephant trek you have to chang mai or chang rai up north

1 day in Bangkok
7 days Samui and Phang yang

Anyone know if you can store luggage at Bankok Airport and how much it costs if you can?
[quote]
I reckon you're getting a bit busy there with the schedule. I'd leave out either the North or the South. Thailand is for chilling and you'll wish you had more time in all of those spots.
[quote]
If you stay around Koh Sahn Rd you can store luggage in some guest houses. Haven't done it for years but it was cheap and it'd probably be cheaper than the airport.

Morning everyone Smile I'm looking to store luggage too in Bangkok... how safe is it to do so in the Khao San Road guesthouses? Can anyone suggest a good guesthouse in this area? (I only have my first night's accomodation booked near Suhkumvit Rd, and that's it).

Also, can anyone tell me if Ko Samet is worthwhile? I only have a week in Thailand on the way to Europe so looking at just a few days in Bangkok and then a few days on the beach on Ko Samet (since it's so close).

Steveo, any suggestions?

Itchy: Listen to Nishi - he speaks wisdom, you are trying too much over too greater area in too little time.

Airport is a total ripoff be carefull there they are very strict - ruling and very under the thumb
[quote]
OK, so I cant leave a suitacse at the airport?

The person I'm going with is gonna have a big suitcase and I dont want to drag it round Thailand! If I only stay at a backpackers for one night in Bangkok can I still leave the bag there?

If I dont have time I'll miss out Laos. I was gonna catch the train to Chan Mai and then fly back down to Samui. I figure I should have enough toime to do both of thos things yeah?

Any advise for this stupid suitcase????

Smile

My friend flew up to chaing mai then down to samui from there. The flights are pretty quick generally, so that shouldn't be a problem.

As for the airport stored luggage, well it is possible (they do it from what I hear), but nobody seems to have anything good to say about them. I get the impression they're a bit dodgy, but I could be wrong.

Most guesthouses or hotels will hold onto your luggage if you book your last night in bangkok with them. Normally this is a good idea to do anyway, since you don't want to be racing to bangkok airport from somewhere else in the country really.
[quote]
Sound advise. Yeah, my mate said I should stay one night in Bangkok and book the last night so I can leave the suitcase there

Cant wait. Got my ticket today - about $600NZ return
[quote]
when do you leave? I'll be in Thailand from 11th of June to the 18th.
[quote]
I'll just miss you

June 20-July 5

Make sure you post how it went and what was good etc

Smile

Have fun!!
