Who's been to Ibiza?

So, I'm gonna be in Spain May/June 2008 and was gonna go check out Ibiza whilst there.

I guess since it'll be early on I might be there round teh time of the opening parties for the season.

Any advise about which clubs are a must see, and the best way to sort accomodation woulod be appreciated.

I need to book a flight to Edinburgh Scotland too at some stage ... would this be pretty easy and cheap from Ibiza? Or, should I fly out of barcelona or Madrid?

i worked there the whole last season,
yeah dont go san antonio unless you like lots of brits, throwing up, fighting and getting there tits out.
stay in old town or nearby.
it doesnt really pick up till mid june,
and weekdays are best, especially for guestlists, if you hang out on the major beaches, lots of free ticks floating about.
sun we love sundays at space, mon roger sanchez at pacha, tue carl cox at space, wed cant remember, every sec thurs renaissance at pacha, fri manumission at amnesia. oh yeah,

Is Manu and Amnesia now, not Privilege? I enjoyed the shows Manu did but the music sucked major arse. Nothing like girlies performing simulated oral sex in their underwear on the bar, whilst you're trying to order a drink beside them.

yeah, privilege threw a wobbly and locked the doors on them after all of a sudden demanding unpaid late closing fees which amounted to big$$ or should i say euros...
i didnt see one good gig at privlege..
yip the girls are the bomb...
music was pretty out of line of what was going down..

and they had a lot of bands come in and play dj sets... interesting concept...

Right here is my advice..

Villas are notorious for getting broken into and everything taken!! like it happens heaps!! so unless you can get something with attack dogs or something. The sneaky Spanish and Italian bastards will be in there grabbing your stuff while you are at the beach (of which there are 87!!)

There are 3 main areas to stay in

Eivissa town and port area - Near to Pacha and El Divino - Prices pretty steep thou in terms of food and accom!! but bloody handy to nice beaches and 2 of the best clubs. Main people around during day are super hot Spanish and Italian people.

Mostly English people at El Divino at night and mostly Spanish and Italian at Pacha. Great area my favourite !


Playa d'en Bossa - Near to Space and couple of on the beach clubs.
A lot more run down area but cost comes down a lot.. Beaches are not as nice but you can just hire a car and go to the nicer beaches around the island.

Space is great club but contains mostly horny Italian men, which means if you have any women friends with you they get hassled by them heaps which gets pretty sucky after about 20 mins and make sure you have your wallet in your front pocket and not in the back as the Italians love to steal them, don't try and get pills off them either it will be Paracetamol ) Women to men ratio is a lot lower than all other clubs in ibiza which is a shame as its a wicked club.

Sant Antoni = Millions of Chavs and lots of English. But super super cheap accom and food. Feels like you are in a hot version of Manchester thou. No Spanish or any other people really just shitloads of white chavy english. not pretty.

Major clubs in Sant Antoni

Eden, pretty cool club, ie good trance sorta beats etc. but again because of location its full of chavs and 21 year old pucking english wanting to fight each other.
Es Paradis - lot classicer than eden but again not that great its ok

Now the main redemming feature of this area is cafe mambo and cafe de mar area which has amazing sunsets and good food. Great place to start the night off before you lineup to get into a club somewhere on the island.


Final area but not a living area is in the centre of the island
Its the main road between the 2 sides and it has 2 bloody big clubs on it.
Amensia is the best of course , bloody great club, good mix of people and then there is privilege which is only really good to go to on really big nights as its a superclub (10,000 people size)


Things to avoid and watch out for...

The La Guardia or Guardia Civil, in english means Civil Guard.
These guys are bad news brown, they carry guns and are pretty corrupt.
They take drugs off you then ask for $$ so you don't go to jail etc..
Then they beat you up and then they sell the drugs back to the drug dealers.
They are to be avoided at all costs.
If you hire a car, don't stick out. ie driving super fast or drunk.

The normal local police are much better, won't beat you up but will do everything else the guardia do..

Best to take everything you have before you go out then head to the club.

Drivers in Ibiza are completely crazy but its so worth getting to the nice beaches. I found the following beaches to rock. Photos on my facebook to show you what they look like!

Cala da Jondal
Has 2 cafes on the beach front.. super cool!!
Topless girls in large large numbers. Takes about 20 mins from ibiza town or 15 from san an

Benirras
2 large restaurants on the beach front, full of hippies pretty cool..
30 mins from ibiza town, very scenic!!

That still leaves 85 other beaches to check out but those 2 are great!!

You can buy your tickets online for all the events beforehand. Its a good idea as the lines can be massive!!!

Coxy rips it up every tuesday night.. worth checking out at least once!

We love space - sundays at space
starts at 8am on sundays and goes till 6am on monday morning!! sick!!

Reniassiace at Pacha is always good.
Make sure you go to pacha at least once, to get in thou you really have to dress up. Think super styley spanish or Italian people!!

Closing parties for about 2 weeks. Have done the opening parties before and it was EPIC so going for something different. Staying in SanAn again, it was a blast last time, not sure why everyone thats not from the UK is so upity about it.

hehe yea i know! im actually chilling in Ibiza for 3 days by myself on the beach after all the boys have gone home so that will be nice and relaxing and then i get back on a friday and will have the weekend to sleep too!!

Its going to be full on but a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!!


I think you guys should all come around that time will be SWEET to party over there with extra peeps, we have about 15 of us at this stage!

You'll love it Kenzie. Bora Bora is a nice bar just to chill under the umbrellas and watch people go by. It was amazing walking back along Plaja Den Bossa at 5am after Carl Cox @ Space to where we stayed. People having sex on the stacked up piles of sun loungers!

um going with my step brother and a group of his mates for 4 days and then im staying on for 3 more by myself! whys that hun??

I stayed at Mare Nostrum last year, its an OK motel, they have a nice pool and its not a very far walk to the beach.

There is a group of about 10 of us staying at Bossa park from the 25th to the 29th July this year...actually Honey is your step brothers name Mat by chance?

Coool - an "OK" hotel with a pool on Ibiza will be like a 5 star luxury resort after 3 months in India

Well, things really didn´t go to plan. I got hold of 5 pills and a gram of coke and thought I´d be in for a pretty full on afternoon and night @ Space ... but alas, this was not the case.

When going to the event and walking through the car park to Space the Civil Guards (kinda like unsigned police I guess) were randomly searching people ... and I was pulled out to be searched. I had the gear concealed on my body, but they really searched for it, and eventually took me into a caravan and got me to pull the bag out of my boxers. In Spain you don´t really hear of people being prosecuted for possession, so I was never stressed about this, but was pissed off that I´d lost everything. The Civil Guard just take your gear, write down details and send you on your way (I already knew this too).

You gotta watch out for this ay, they REALLY search the people they pull up. They have woman officers too who give the girls a good going over. People I talked to afterwards said down the back of the pants (rather than the front) is a far better idea ...

Absolutely no problems with any of the other stuff. Got searched once going into Amnesia but other than that it was just walking in no probs.

For sure!! Bora Bora at Playa De Bossa is my pick for Ibiza. I´d go back JUST to go there and party with spider man

I was there for 9 nights and only went in once to Bora Bora. We spent most pre nights in an apartment about 30metres from it. Best option as Bora Bora was pretty pricey although def worth a visit!
Our Hotel (Hotel Garbi) actually had a club attached to it (can't remember the clubs name, Martina or something)... We got back from Cream at about 4 one morning and decided to have a look. When we got in there were about half way through a girl on girl show. Pretty random! Then again, came to expect the unexpected from Ibiza!

Wow its so good reading about all this travel stuff!!

Im 27 in june and still not done a OE.

At the moment I have a safe job so not thinking about moving to the UK for OE.

Im thinking Im prob best to save 10K and just travel for a month or 2.
Not sure how long money will last and how much contiki / bus abouts cost but I just need to save and do it!!

So dont know anything about this big wide world thats out there!!!
