i didnt go there lots, i went there for about a total of 10 times.. *guessing* because my parents were strict, But i would have liked to go more than i had. it was a cool place. It wasnt to big and waasnt to small. the music was great. and really loud. and they had heaps of happy hardcore on saturdays. :o) i think. *correct me if im wrong*
yay. sorry. im just thinking about the old days. *sigh* before i was a biggie. and before i knew what the letters of the alphabet really stood for.
well icon was what introduced me to the scene so yeah i loved the place, i started going beginning of last year, and went there quite often till it closed down end of sep 2001 they played lots of happy hardcore, does ne1 else part from me like children of the night by Nakatomi
I started back going when it was called Platinum back in the beginning of 1998. All the Happy Hardcore hits I heard then were the same ones being played at Icon during 2001. Every generation of ravers enjoy HH more because its the first thing remotely different to what they hear on the radio. It's a bit of a shame that the kids of today are being tuned into Hip Hop because it would be could to emulate the same dancing vibe and atmosphere that I experienced when I fist started going raves. If the r16 club nite at klub2k kicks gets the support it NEEDS then maybe the all age rave scene will be able to match the vibe that raves produced in the late 1990's.
Been there quite a number of times in the early days of it being called icon (after platinum). Was there on opening and closing weekends. Soo sad.
Loved the times i had tho, including the last night
Don't miss what will no doubt be a massive Icon reuninon this Sat at Klub2K for the Ultimate Happy Hardcore Rave. All the old DJS with Adam Bomb, 12" and MC Bukai, the same Icon Sound System and even the lighting programmed by the Icon boys. But more important than any of that 100% HAPPY HARDCORE!!!
Like G-Way said, we're doing our best to try and keep it alive for you guys so make sure you support this Friday and gigs like it, or you'll be left with nothing but Hip Hop & RnB.
