Who has the *cheapest* broadband?

And I mean cheap and nasty. Basic browsing, no p2p or anything. Low cap. Preferably naked, but low total spend is the key.

Suggestions?

Naked will not be cheap dude, cause cost of line is usually included in the price anyway...

My advice is to get a landline with telecom and a 256/128 k plan with someone.

Surely the cheapest would be 3G option instead of DSL?

What I'm finding interesting is that there is essentially fuck all difference between base level 1gb plans and say the 10gb level, and the fuck all price difference would be eliminated pretty quickly if your strike overage charges.

Example would be the cheapest reputable provider on that list is Maxnet, at $70 for fs/fs 1gb. For $5 more, you get 10gb, so it clearly makes more sense to get that when overage on the 1gb is $10/2gb.

I think 256k is out, as you said last night it's near impossible to find someone reselling those plans still.

So, at ~$70ish for a plan like that, Telecom Big Time (the new Go Large) at $102 including POTS line for unlimited data starts to look more attractive. I'd consider subsidising some of that for her and sticking a machine at her place so I can whore bulk data.



As with cheap low cap DSL plans, the overage charges start to fuck you. Although, her laptop does have built in 3G, so maaaaaybe.


Also by no metric would I consider Woosh broadband. I don't know how many times I have to tell you to fuck off with your Woosh bullshit.

Further to that, from looking now, Voda charges $70/3GB 24 month term or $80 no term.

DSL is actually cheaper.

Yeah, Telecom has stopped reselling those (256/128 plans) to wholesalers, which is a bummer for a gran/pops and low budget customers. It leaves you with fuck all choice really.

Every 256k DSL connection I have used has been vastly better than every Woosh connection I have used.

Interesting sitting back seeing this thread over the last couple of days and NR being told his reply is not valid when if you read every word (slowly if it helps) of the OP, woosh fits exactly. It may be shit, but is this not what cheap and nasty means? It's good for only basic web browsing has a low cap, is naked and it's by far the cheapest.

Functional is a key thing. Even poor DSL that's oversubscribed with low throughput, at least stays up. Woosh has been flakey as shit every time I and anyone else with a clue I know have ever used it.

NR (and bob daktari to an extent) are the only people I know who have ever had anything positive to say about it.

So, lets pretend I didn't say broadband in the OP and said DSL instead. Woosh is a steaming turd and will not be considered. Next person who suggests Woosh gets a punch in the face.

To add, you'd be surprised how frustrated normal people get when their internet cuts in and out all the time. In fact they seem to get more irritated than geeks.

I'm not taking a support phone call every time Woosh cuts out.

yeh my go large plan has been deceaseded so I'm having to choose the unlimited plan Big Time (or one of the others of coures - but I hate thinking about data usage so I always choose unlimited)

I can only speak from my five year experience of their service and experience of other dsl services against which Woosh more than measured or measures up

no I changed to landline some months ago when it came to my hood adsl2 plus that is

telecoms all you can grab seems best deal I had it for a while and think it was then I got 16mbs on test
