Unfortunately I can not vote this year, but I still like to know what's going on etc. I've found that lately I'm getting really heated and GRRRRRR when people my age discuss politics... Like the girl who my class she 'rather likes Winston Peter's for his views on immigration' , just me but that fucks me off propa. Meh....

Anywho, who do you all think should get in this time round?

Labour is getting my vote.

Nationals tax cuts will cost the country too much. Where will they find the money? probably from other government funded things. I don't want to go to the doctore with my community services card and have to pay more than I do now nor do I want to live in a country with massive debt... My mum is worried about interest rates rising too.

Besides Labour are going to help me pay back my student loan.

and Don brash is smarmy... he reminds me of a the preseident from another country - which I will nto name. Helen has balls shes strong and genuine... brash has flaps and is full os sh*t

what other policies have national discussed other than tax cuts??? not a lot .

with labour, why try to get ahead. their ideal world is everyone equal. tax those who work harder and give to those who dont. how is that fair?

pay off student loans for those that borrowed the money, stuff those that worked to pay for their education.

plus im very sure brash knows how to get the money for tax cuts without cutting funding to hospitals, schools etc. just look around the govt departments, 1 in 5 workers in NZ are employed by the govt. Im sure theres heaps of room to become more effective / efficent

I have serious doubts - National need 7 billion to make their cuts work... 7 billion!

it will be us, the people with less money who suffer.

As a student my study is very full on. I have not time to work if I want to get the marks I require and my parents cannot pay for my tuition. I need to loan the money to pay for my education.

I need all the government assistance I can get - otherwise why should I bother staying in nz?

heh I'm so happy no one has said NZ First Very Happy

I don't think Clarky has balls of steel, I think there's a lot of shit she only fronts up to once it gets leaked... Which is silly. I mean obviously every government has confidential shit we'll prob never know about, but I think of the things that have happened have been swept under the rug and she hasn't fronted up to them...
One of the big things that bugged me this year about Clark, is the whole speeding thingy. I hate it that several cops (people who have given their time to improving society and keeping us safe), are being punished for something that was blatantly in Clark's control.

I do like Brash's policy on changing a lot of race determined funding. Although I do worry there are certain areas, such as in the health sector, that he will abolish purely 'cos they're aimed at Maori/Pacific Islanders. It worries me purely for the fact that there are just some things that need to be aimed at a particular demographic to be effective. Such as SmokeFree campaigns aimed at Maori.

Anywho, I would like to see Greens be part of a coalition, but unfortunately it'd prob only happen with Labour. I think the G

oops..

I think the Greens are the only party who are seriously thinking about something that is going to be one of our biggest issues. The environment and the ever growing petroleum crisis. But I don't really think the Greens would be up for running EVERYTHING, as we have heard fuck all about their education or health policies.

I have no objections to students getting loans from the govt. I just dont feel its fair that the govt considers wiping the loans or cutting large amounts off them. Even low interest rates are unfair but mehhh.

If people dont like the idea of a loan and re-payments when they start working, my opinion is you shouldnt take the study then. theres lots of jobs with no training out there. people cant just take a course then complain that they cant re-pay them and want it wiped later on.

oh and if students payed full interest on their loans, im sure that would get National billions of $ a year Mr. Green Laughing
