are we getting that low on "new" ideas for movies that we have to dredge up "old" ones and remake them with the special effects we have today??

im mean.. PSYCHO.. STAR WARS.. JEDI.. STRIKES BACK.. now E.T. and i cant think of any others...
just cos its been 20years since it was released...???

Hey Scobs, I work in the industry as you may or may not know.

ET is a classic & there is a whole generation of kids out there that havent seen it. So theres money to be made! Beauty & the Beast has been re-done with an extra scene too and opens on 1 January - only its on IMAX so that makes it extra special. Thats just the way it is, some things will never change.....

ET isnt mine, but I will definately go see it.

If you want to see something a bit different my recommendation to you for January are:

-K PAX (Kevin Spacey) - opens 3 Jan

-Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back - opens 31 Jan
[quote]
PS: We arent getting low on movies either, the company that I work for released about 25 titles in 2001 - but Ive got 65 in 2002.....
[quote]
it's good to re-see movies on the big screen. stop bitching
[quote]
Renaissancer - LOL! Well said!
[quote]
pluto -i like the cut of your jib! seeing classics on the big screen is possibly one of the more enjoyable things in life, if marketing have to throw in some bollocks about digital remastering to sell it to the kids then so be it, but i can't wait to see et again....
[quote]
jon b - Keep an eye out for Apocalypse Now Redux - no date yet, but it will be amazing.
[quote]
Pluto - i haev been onto at leat 3 threads where you have mentioned that you work "in the industry" whats the deal with that? i understand that it is something you can be proud of if ya wanna be, but my 16 yr old cousin works in a movie theatre and gets to see all the movies too, but he doesnt brag about it!
[quote]
Caz - mmmmm, and L8N is a good mate of mine and I dont go on about what clubs/bars he is playing at every week do I?

People that live in glasshouses shouldnt throw stones.

Merry Christmas!

PS: Its called MARKETING.
[quote]
Renaissancer- wasnt a bitch thread, just a question and see what other ppl thought, sorry that you find the need to think everything is a bitch thread.. what bad come-down this weekend..?? Razz

Well considering the shit that Hollywood has been pumping out over the past few years. I would like to see some old movies re-released.
I am so sick of a stock standard action flick with the same plot in a different setting

Go get some old classic flicks out on video and check them out. Hollywood has not been doing its best work over the past ten years or so
[quote]
molatov... this is why im saying that they have run out ideas for good "new" movies... some think im bitching bout having "old" movies re-released, but im not, i even would like to see some old movies re-released and inhanced Smile

[quote]
scooby - its not that they have run out of ideas, its a revenue earning excercise, much cheaper to re-release a film than to make a new one.

Many things can be misconstrued on here if not accompanied by the right emoticons.....

Smile :p :o)

[quote]
yeah go jay and silent bob.

what the fucks the internet Smile

heh i saw somewhere that wasn't gonna be out till march
[quote]
Oh i am sorry scooby, did i make a comment that did follow after yours in a nice flow.

Hollywood ran out of new ideas years ago,
[quote]
yeah some movies will never get old, i mean the fairy tales have been around for god knows how long and kids of today and tomorrow deserve the chance to see them......but get used to it cos by the time you die who knows how many more movies they will re-make, or change slightly to suit the generation, don't want to see it?? then dont, it's your money...
[quote]
n|ck:

Yeah, there were a few date changes, but its definately opening on 31 January now and its going wider so it will be everywhere.

Have a look at: http://www.newsaskew.com/va5/

[quote]
heh yeah like i saw it months ago... bloody forgotten most of it, but its so bloody funny... gotta wait forever till they come out over here
[quote]
n|ck - it should get better this year.

Did you see it with the staff at Rialto Newmarket? Or was it a media screening at the theatrette on Anzac Ave?
[quote]
arrr i saw it at home Smile
[quote]
n|ck - Pirated DVD's out there already?!
[quote]
Hollywood ran out of Ideas...LOL.....There are always new ideas out there. There are only so many story lines you can throw ar people for them to understand. Take a look at Memento for example a great film. An Old story, a new way of viewing it and still people get lost.
Take a look at American Beauty...Whats original about that Movie, the story and concept have been around in the film industry forever. It was a hundred other unique elements that made the movie.
Apocalypse now.....DAMN..Looking forward to that.
[quote]
JohnnyB - Ahhh, I LOVE YOU! Memento was mine, American Beauty was mine too - (UIP now have apocalypse tho).

Memento was amazing, I had to watch it about 4 times before I was happy with my theorys on exactly what happened, but what a fantastic piece of work....
[quote]
Yeah I was really impressed with Guy...He's done really well since ' Neighbours '.
[quote]
n|ck. Do some work!!
[quote]
heh dunno about pirated DVDs but its on the net
[quote]
*LOL* all work is done Smile 2 phone calls so far today
[quote]
JohnnyB - Wait till you see The Count of Monte Cristo (25 April at this point) - he plays the psycho types quite well!
[quote]
Would love to see The shining on the big screen. Some old you older kids will prob have a flashback when you hear.. " Herrrreeess JOHNNY "
[quote]
n|ck - U mean you can download the whole movie? Shit a brick & fart ten pebbles! Where from?
[quote]
*lol* what about that old techno song "heres johnny" hell i got that cd single somewhere, i'm gonna have to listen to it when i get home now, it bloody rocked Smile
[quote]
arrr yeah you can download anything... if ya wanna know whats been released on the net just go to www.isonews.com and have a look
[quote]
Get Morpheus if you want ANYTHING...
[quote]
Speaking of Pscho's Pluto...There doing American Psycho II but without Patrick Bergman. One of his survivors goes Psycho and goes on the rampage....
I remain cynical at this point as to its merits..
[quote]
JohnnyB - Mmmm, I heard, the proof of the pudding will be in the tasting.....
[quote]
And Just in....According to IMDB users, Lord of the Rings is now the most popular film made ever. The Godfather now ranks #2, Shawshank Redemption #3.
[quote]
Pluto - L8N happens to be a good mate of mine as well chances are we've met... didnt mean it to sound as bad as it appeared. Wink
[quote]
not bad come down this weekend at all. =) just sick of seeing ppl finding things to moan about
[quote]
Caz - I'll let you off this time! :p Yes, I do know who you are, but dont think we have officially met.....
[quote]
Scoob - I like it when they re-release old classics because as ren says, its nice to see them on the big screen. I'd kill to see Das Boot on the big screen.

However, I tend to think that the re-release of E.T. is a vanity project/marketing excercise in that "Best of" album vein. Hell, the voiceover says as much.
[quote]
pluto - i'm not sure as to who you are... gimme a clue? email me - karen@herplace.co.nz
[quote]
Caz, Have e:mailed ya.
