Do you remember the moment that changed you. Do you remember the first time some one said to you this is 2 step.

I have been thinking about this for a while and I reckon, even though it didn't have a name then, the tune was

Tina Moore Never gonna let you go (kelly G)

Ah 95.

this might sound really stupid to most people but what is 2 step???? can you give me examples.
Is it diffrent to garage?? i only really know what garage is because somebody has said to me: THIS IS WHAT GARAGE SOUNDS LIKE.

Are you counting speed garage? Cos the first I have a name for would be the mighty Double 99 Rip Groove, had heard others but didn't know any names. Sean did you go and see armand Van Helden @ powerstation? After sitting through 3 hrs of cheeze ie I'm Horny horny horny horny, he played some angry speed garage, I likes

I can't remember because I got all the genre's mixed up.

I remember some of Armand Van Helden's tracks "Funk Phenomenon" and "Sugar is sweeter remix" was that Garage?

Now this is what I like to see. A conversation where people talk about old tunes, define a musical genre and slag off the performance of NY giants. Touch yup I was there. Boring or what, but then I never really expected it to be anything else. I used to love funk phenomenon. I cained that tune. Ieven played proffesional widow ...alot. I'll still play it. Armand is good at what he did, but anyone who thinks he had any influence on the changing face of UK garage has been reading too many magazines. To those of you who say rip groove...big up yourselves. wicked tune, still knockin them over. To ouse, it doesn't sound stupid to anyone, that you don't know what 2 step is. I used that phrase to try to get a conversation going. It's just garage really, and always will be. God bless you all for your interest. I want to invite you all to a party infact acornm, touch, ouse, even mikeyc, drop me a line at silkcuts@clear.net.nz and your on the guest list for Silkcuts special filter on the 17th at Fu. You've made an old man very happy.

Ta Sean, I'll be there. I didn't say Mr Helden was boring I was just there for the speed, and no he wasn't the great leading light of 2 step but he was playing speed garage back in the day. Personally I likes what Todd Edwards brought along, tuff stepping beats with big bouncy basslines, not to mention Tuff Jam and all the early Locked On Uk Garage. mmmm garage good.

Hope this conversation isn't over yet -

would have to think about mine long and hard.... maybe... nah I don't know but i can say the tune that impacted on me the most. Truesteppers vs. Baby D - Let me be your Fantasy.

It's my favorite old skool rave tune mixed into my favorite genre of music, was just the best day when I found that track.

So a question for all the heads - when did 2STEP make it on the scene?

When I think of 2STEP Zed Bias and Pirates Radio comes to mind, then MJ COLE yadda yadda.

Sean i've been down to Silkcuts beginning of this year, it was good. Low on the dosh keeps your gigs to a minimum though. Anyhow i'll check out the guys putting out the 2STEP @ TACTICs tonite.
