Yeah, I heard that the other day ... I think there is a Rapture remix. Does that mean Escort are a hipster band?? Is Nu-Disco the new/nu big thing at the indie disco??

Actually there are 2 new 12"s ....

All Through The Night 12"
Love In Indigo / Karawane 12"

The Rapture remix actually sounds pretty good on first listen ... Quite dark, late-night soudning ...

http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/ has sound files ...

Also, slaying my floor this morning:
Benny Sings - Benny... At Home (Sonar Kollektiv)
Was on my desk this morning. Perfect album to combat the overcast day.

Los Jugaderos - The Barrio Stress EP (Jus' Trax)
- A Phil Asher / Ashley Beedle collaboration from '96. Still sounds fresh ...

Candi Staton - Do Your Duty / Evidence - Pepe Bradock Remixes
- 'Do Your Duty' and 'Evidence', tracks taken from Candi Staton's earlier, pre-disco, rootsy deep soul days. Actually seems to have been released in 2004. Must be a re-issue ... Which is weird, because 'Do Your Duty' (Erectus Rework) is one of those timeless sounding records that could have been made last week ...

And found ...
Masters At Work - The Album (Cutting Records). Yes!!!

I look forward to hearing it!

My favourite record that I got this week is the Trevor Lovey's 'Organ Grinder' EP on Dubsided.. Some nice stuff on there.

I am hyped for the Roland Appel 'Dark Soldier' 12" and Guillame and the Coutu Dumont's remix of Shackleton! But don't actually own either yet. Neutral

Websta: According to the interview in the wire it is a remix of a 70s Chilean protest rock group called Los Jaivas.. Whatever it is its pretty addictive, I've listened to the whole track repeatedly recently!.

Other than that it has mostly been stentorian minimal round here this week - some favs;

Wighnomy Brothers - Guppipeitsche
Rekleiner - Dos Caminos
Pikaya - Kambrium EP
Gabriel Ananda - Doppelwhipper (Supermayer remix)
Kenny Hawkes and David Parr - Gemini
Naughty - World of a Woman
Claude VonStroke - Whos Afraid of Detroit? (Deepchord remix)

Fact is I've just been making tunes, not buying them, so hopefully when I get the interwebnet sorted at home i'll post some of them in cyber world for you lot to hear!!

But the Samim - Heater has been getting A LOT of attention here. So much for Jay Haze writing him off as a producer in his own right!!

[quote]
got a ph call from the wife yesterday to tell me that Peter Urlich was playing Heater on the breakfast show!!!

i was unsher what was more concerning

the wife listening to his show or him actually playing a decent tune!!!
[quote]
a little bit slow off the mark with this one, but in the theme of techno accordian/trumpet madness:

N.O.H.A - Balkan hotstep
[quote]
i have an old luciano remix of some latin thing thats all jackin beats and accordians

got that from crucial, ahhh the memories

feel the gypsy house
[quote]
Yeah that Samim track is everywhere. Groove armarda played it over here apprently as well. Maybe this will be the begining odf the end with a new influx of minimal producers all trying to put some kind of cheesey non electronic instrument hook over the top of there stuff.
I bags Harpsichord.

Just got back from week in Ibiza and heard it on 6 out of 7 nights. Including by two DJs in a row at We Love Space, Ricardo Vilalobos played it a Circo Loco and Kenny Dope played it twice at Pacha... including as the encore tune!

It's big, it's fun but it's not necessarily dumb.

No other tunes to report of from the White Isle but then I'm not really familiar with the stuffed played by Jeff Mills, Riton, Damian Lazarus, etc. While Kenny and Louie Vega played a classics set. Well, actually Kenny did - Louie was too drunk to mix so Kenny had to drop his tunes for him. You could cut the tension in the booth with a knife. Plastered At Work.

Incidentally, Louie Vega dropped Samim at Soul Heaven in London the other night... and gave it the rewind thanks to Todd Terry on the mic'. Get Physical big with the New York massive.

No. Sadly ... Had to work.

no falling chimes, no call to arms,
no siren whines, no false alarms,
down the telephone lines
at the side of the farms
arm in arm, down hemlock row
where the flowers of evil... never grow
under one heartbeat, heavy but slow
walking together in the purple snow charming breezes, bring the rain
it's gonna run like rats down the gutters and the drains
it's gonna run like a river
down the window panes
down a web of cracks, like twisted veins
a stranger... calls my name between the rollerama and the junk yard
where the panorama looks like Mars
and the belladonna looks like stars
behind the Panamanian bars
in the dying gardens... down below
walking together in the purple snow.
