Either as a dancer or a DJ, what tracks made the floor go mental for ya last weekend??

For me in Dunedin it was...

DJ Loki & LoWalk - Dirty Secret (local CDR)
Funk d'Void - Diabla - Heavenly Mix (Soma)
Vitalic - La Rock (Gigalo)
Gregor Tresher - Firewalls (Data Punk)
Panash - Jack 2 Jack - Dahlback mix (Turbo)

Proving that it dont have to be new to go off!
[quote]
Steve Angello - Euro (Sebastian Ingrosso rmx)
Moguai - Old'N'New (Mark Emerson/Justin Case re edit)
Bryan Cox - No Future in Yo Funkin
JDS - Purple funky Monkey (re edit)
Alex Peace - From Inside the Speaker (Bryan cox rmx)

is about all i can remember on a monday

[quote]
Yup... you pretty much know you can get away with playing something like that if some girl comes up and requests Roger Sanchez.

The best request was for "something with a faster house beat". I drew them a map to the Shorthland St/High St corner.
[quote]
is fast house making a comeback? Smile
[quote]
Nah, the term was coined ahead its time.

Who would've thought something so musically prophetic could emerge from the Lounge?

But back to the topic at hand.........

Kaskade -Steppin Out (Jason Hodgson Remix)

Deep Dish - Flashdance
Britney Spears - Toxic (Armand Van Helden Remix)
Feaks - Washing Machine (Sneaks Supa-Clean Mix)

[quote]
More than welcome codeman, sorry tom, you gotta start sucking the cock to get the cheap deals Wink

"And yeah, that Heavenly mix of Diabla sounded Amazing"

that slayed it down napier too, always nice. Tho for me his new remix of Tanya or whatever is doing the floor some harm too, very lush. I think that every time I have dropped that in NZ over the last few years it's blown the club another asshole.

Detroit techno is still king of the castle then eh??

Wink

Emotion and power. Like a heavywieght weightlifter loosing the olympic gold after a failed post-games drugtest.
[quote]
Another one that made the Dunedinites go off their rockers was...

Kings Of Punani - Acid Thunder (Tronic)

That tune just gets bigger and bigger, fun to watch the dancefloor freak out wondering how massive its going to get!! gggrrrrrr Very Happy
[quote]
ooohhh play us that then will ya?
[quote]
this track is the sleeping giant. I can't believe how many djs have passed it over (think it's the whitelabel aspect), but twas the second biggest track at Pullen (in 5hours or whatever, that's pretty good) and everyone's drooled over it when out. Maybe it's too much to handle for most djs Wink
[quote]
clearing floors for me currently would have to be The Firm - Star Trekkin

and hopefully todays purchase Riton "Killing An Arab" (think electroclash pre "nu" era)

Whilst I can understand most peoples desire to have people come onto the floor to dance and make merriment I find the opposite creates a far more emotional response and if you really want to claim underground staus follow my lead, its about being true to yourself not pandering to a dancefloor thats more often than not filled with lemmings

Last weekend I got the following comment "this is horrible, please stop it". Quite proud of that one I am

Come check me out at the Warmup Wink
[quote]
Phunk Electric - Red Hot
Monkey Bars - Shuggi Love
Olav - Samplitude 12
Gus Gus/Benii Banassi - Davis/ ???? bootleg

As for the Kings of Punani, me and greg were trying to spot that one last week, I do know it, adn probably own it. Tho I dont think it's a sample, I think it's a re-voiceing of the acidline.

ELECTRO TRUCKERS @ INK : FRIDAY 8TH OCTOBER

Adam Beyer + Lenk ft. Tiga - Ananda/Heartbreaker (Novamute)
Depeche Mode - Photographic - Rex The Dog Dubb Mix
Rex The Dog - Frequency (Kompakt)
Matt Drake and Simon Beesting - Nightrider/Robotic Love
Boot 1 - Left Foot (Boot)
Blackstrobe - Italian Fireflies (Kitsune)
The Egg - Wall - Atomic Hooligan Mix

Do tell kids, whats slayin' ya floor!?
[quote]
It was an awsome set too Beesting!!!

For me the tunes that had the best response were:

Blackstrobe - Chemical Sweet Girl (Dub)
Passenger - The Blurshake
Peter Katafalk - Down & Out (Extended mix)
Twig - Being With You
Joy Kitikonti - Dirty Summer

..... and that cheeky remix of Ushers's "Burn" by xpress 2 Shocked

It got such a reaction that i played it a second time at the end of my set.

Kinda proves that remixes of R&B tracks arent the devil and can be fantastic if approached with some creative intelligence and slick production, rather than just sped up with a more solid 4/4 bunged underneath. Smile

[quote]
Ignacio - Evolving/Sambing(Music Man)
Whirring and stabbing synths over cool techno beats. Took me a while to work it out it plays from the inside out!!
[quote]
Ignacio is Steve Rachmad, he's the one who did that exclusive to dj remix of a Jeff Mills track which was sambatechnolove, he's also the guy who closes the Sonar festival to 50,000 crazy screaming spaniards in barcalona each year. If anyone ever gets a chance to see this guy, apparently he useually out plays mills and hawtin, so that's gotta be good Smile

as for slaying the floor:

Jori Hulkkonen - Acid Kings
Detroit Grang Pubahs/MrOzio - Stunt
Unknown - Bass Kontrol
Tomie Nevada - Night Becomes Day
Killabite - Women Beat Their Men (MD edit)

Seriously disliked the original of this (Soul Central not Derrick & Carl although thats sitting in the seriously overplayed basket these days too) but I love the Funky Lowlives remix- so good to hear a latin tinge that doesn't consist of pointless percussion and noodling.

Mashtronic: Robo talk

The Funky Lowlives mix didn't strike me as terribly Latin... I figured it to be more West London-ish. Tis good none the less.

I guess that kinda makes my point...the distorting of what is now considered latin. The Funky Lowlives mix takes the elements of the original- the almost salsa-ish loungy feel that a lot of early techno has and accentuates it. It has a real Fania kind of feel, like some of the early Willie Colon or Willie Bobo or Joe Bataan stuff.
