First International: Roni Size @ BDO 98 but if I said actual internation dnb only gig that would be APHRODITE.

First local: @ the Factory one Sunday nite last year.

Ahhh the memories....
[quote]
Wish I could delete/edit threads.

Just thought back and Roni Size was in 99.

The first local gig was actually @ Rainbows End rave in the DOME in 99.

Short term memory loss???

Then the Breaks at Calibre..

1st international Nasty Habits 97

1st International Mc Warren G with SS at The Box

MC Warren G? As in Warren G the one who sings "regulate"?
[quote]
umm uhh the first local gig for me with %100 percent drum n bass on the lineup for me was Voodoo core's Drum n Basswise IV @ bobs..

There were other things around at the time that encorporated a drum n bass dj or 2/3 but the Voodoocore gigs were the first "all jungle" events.... that was.. 94?
[quote]
no Different Warren G...
[quote]
Yep I was at Bobs for those and the hardcore night at the box that played dnb all night with 2 aphex twin tunes for the hardcore massive. Aphrodite played Bobs and he played his mix of Blackstreets No Diggity which is/was wikid
[quote]
Yeah, first 100% D+B gig was Drum + Basswise V @ Bob's......

But first time I heard d+b on a pa was at the hands of Aaron at one of the 398 parties.......
[quote]
First time for me was at BDO beginning of 99.

Turned 18 at the beginning of 2000 so only really got out clubbing then. First big thing to really affect me was last years oonst with concord dawn.
[quote]
Jeeze i cant even remember when i *first* heard it.. 1994 some time...

That hardcore night at the box was "Hard Wired 1" wasnt it ?

There was Jungle Soundclash @ the box which kicked off in 1995 but died after 10 months or so cos... no one went.

Nostalgia rox..

[quote]
No no cant have been Hard Wired... It wasnt all jungle...

Can you remember the name, Touch ??

Btw Touch - Who are you? Nice to know there are more than 4 people out there who went to Basswise that still exist in Auckland..
[quote]
Belive it or not the 1st Time I ever heard Jungle was 1993 at the hands of Sample Gee!!!
[quote]
Nick I remember going to the 398 parties, dancing in the lounge, did you go to the 1 with the spaceship staircase? Matt I can't remember the name short term memory loss but therer were uite a few punters in there and it was dnb all night apart from the 2 aphex choons

it was a virtual sauna......... with sub woofers..

[quote]
First internatty for me was ed rush @ the box... Missed grooverider's 2nd visit by a week stuck(?) in tahiti..

At the time it had to have been the hardest & darkest shit i'd ever heard in my life...

[quote]
the first d7b gig i went to was "spasm" @ insomniac h.q in cashel mall chch! it was jungle

the first internatty's were Nasty Habits & Trace @ chch ministry both of which I worked on door & coatcheck!!!! gotta love that n2o when rumageing for sumones coat!
[quote]

[quote]
Did antone go to the illegal rave they had in Kyhber pass many years ago. It was in the carpark of an abandoned building and had 48 sonic and Aaron playing it was well good.
[quote]

He clung to Dion like a bitch back then, until the banishment..if you don't have the groove..Please don't MC guys...please don't.

[quote]
Touch! I was watching video footage of that last week... ! Dug up all me old tapes.. heh.

Techno Vs. Drum n bass ..

That f1-11 crew did a few other illegal things including "Speed" up on symonds street in an old abandoned warehouse. They cut the chains to the doors to get the gear in..

As well as "Reactor" back in 94 (?) where you had to meet up ontop of the car park reservoir on symonds street.. The night got shut down by the cops before it even started due to some cunt dobbing the night in..

[quote]
Yes yes matt, I remember the speed night cos I dissed one of the guys for ripping off Bukems club nights name.
[quote]
They did a weekly night what we all used to play at call the "Harukiya" up @ luna... named after the bar in Akira.

Ever get along to that? Bit of a laugh...
[quote]

I dont think so.

I have the flyer from his first visit. A nice 2 colour black with pink writing done on a photocopier....

[quote]

[quote]
Matt: GR was INDEED at the Brain (mr sam hill brought him down..)

and YES i DID go to bobs... a couple doors up from debretts or like next to it.. I forget if theres anything in between... [quote]

ha
[quote]
(just Kidding)
[quote]
matt: please check your info before mouthin off.

cheers.
[quote]
I am sure that first Rider gig wasn't a Brain at all. It's quite funny I reckon how there were only about 150 people in attendance that night (from Sam & Grants mouth) but the amount of people that claim to have been there would have made it a sell out Razz
Not you Dimi, I am sure you were there, but just interesting how many people were 'definitely' there.
And no, I wasn't......Still UK side at the time loving rock music and happy as hell about it....
[quote]
Presha: yer I distinctly remember poor attendance now u say it. Don't think I even stayed there for more than two hours...
Biggups to Grant & Sam tho, for doin the bizz, an ting. Didn't meet Grant properlly till late 96!
[quote]
shit or was it 97?
man my memory sucks!
[quote]
Ah, so that gig was called "Steps"

I went to that, a mighty fine night spent dancing and playing Wipeout. ] The first actual night I'd been to that had DJs playing the music I liked. 1st international was Kemi + Storm at Platinum.

Fun times...someone should do something in that Wakefield space again.
[quote]
Indeed Big Ups To Grant And Sam!
as I'm sure if it wasn't for the Kaos Techno Show thursday nites on BFm I would have never found Jungle!
[quote]
YEAH! the Kaos techno shot lol! I have some sommewhere on cassette that I recorded... man... I'm so gonna dig em out.... yessssss!
[quote]
Yeah I still have One on tape dated Sep 1993...its such a Laugh to listen to!
On the Other side is Stinky Jim..
I used to record everything!!
I had heaps of 48 sonic's show's dating back to about 97...left them in my Boyfriends Car And It got stolen.....

I gave up after that. Still have a few that weren't in the car.
[quote]
Mouthing off? haha...

"an ting!" etc..

[quote]
wtf is this, why don't you all just flop your dicks out and compare eh? Wink

what is it with 'dance' music that it inspires the,
"down since day one" discussion?

and on that note i'll join in... first all dnb gig would be drumandbasswise @ bobs which was early 95. best of that series was the one where nathan haines played soprano over top over one of jay's sets. i remember running back from some dodgy acid/trance party on the water front to catch that, very class.

first intl. i have no idea, matt will know, my memory is dodgemo. i can only think of springheeljack, but that was 96 and was only memorable because we did a live-to-net. must have been something earlier?

p.s. oh and what the hell is biggie.co.nz thing? a web site dedicated to dance music? man that'll never work! Wink
[quote]
oh and i just gotta be me and just in OT..."short term memory loss". always an amusing way to drop that you do drugs. [groan] but try being accurate eh. short term memory is around 18 seconds, so unless the gig was around the time you started reading this sentance that isn't the reason you forget the details...

that said, short term memory does retard the ability to form long term memories (or learn in general), as all long term memories must be rehearsed in the short-term memory first, so if that is screwed you will find it hard to remember things. or you might just be stupid eh!

if you can't remember a gig though its probably just because you were so pissed off the brandy you stole from you momma's liquor cabinet. (she was too busy banging matt to notice Wink

oh and back OT...first regular dnb gig was "camoflage" at the box..the flyers came out ages before hand, i was amped for that for ages...summer 95 to 96. numbers were always _low_ but the "get in free if you're wearing camo" was amusing and the music good. before stephen green switched to house Wink
[quote]
whoops i was on crack when i wrote:

"There was Jungle Soundclash @ the box ... "

Infact, i meant Camoflage @ the box... With Stephen Green & Aaron...

Big ups Dr Ave' - 'Trance floor' king Wink
[quote]
kakama - interesting theory on the "short term memory loss" drug thing. sorry to bum u out but i don't do drugs so i must be stupid eh?

did however learn something new from you about short term memory loss :o)
[quote]
TOPIC:
WHAT WAS THE FIRST DNB GIG YOU WENT TO?
