Mine will start with a real early dog walk and swim to tire 'em out then home to prep lunch for 21 family - and six dogs.
Seafood mostly - the lads are going diving for Crays/Paua for 3 days prior and hopefully pick up a kingi or two as well - I'll definitely be lighting up the Weber for some hot smoking.
Drunken Uncle Bob will get rat-arsed, offend everyone, then cry and crash out on the lawn and one of the dogs will pee on him. Family will mostly drift away to be replaced by the orphans at around 8pm. (We have an Orphan's Christmas every year). Neighbours will be pretty cool about the noise as it is Christmas.. but someone further down the street will call noise control at about 2am I'd hazard, fair call. Then we'll grab the National Steels (and my first real six string) and bang out some accoustic blues (really badly) and talk shit until about 10am - then burn, crash and sleep until the 27th.

Yours?

Visit maternal grandmother for a dram of whiskey then visit mum.

Then junk food and the entire BBC Pride and Prejudice box set. Xmas win blower

It will be an all out christmas carolling, ugly christmas sweater wearing affair! Very Happy now that the grinch of an ex is not around to ruin it Smile haning out with my kid who I've bought some completely inappropriate and noisy toys!

Bit different this year as the old man is off on a 30 night Sydney to Hong Kong cruise, leaving us poor children to fend for ourselves. Looks like we're going to do something at my sisters house, and bring grandma over (mothers side, doesn't join us for Xmas me and sister visit her), so it will be nice to only have ONE family thing to go to this year. Sounds like we're going to be laid back and BBQ'ing. Good times!

Starts out pear shaped. Doesn't really change off that trajectory.

Umm well my daughter gets up at about 4.30am SCREAMING OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because Santa leaves a present in her room and dusty footprints leading out of her room (parents read: dust flour or something around a large shoe around the house makes kids flip out Smile ) ...

I wake up get excited for her usually make sure Santa gets her a dvd for her to watch until a reasonable hour.. then I get up make some nice breakfast and start dolling myself and the house up.. this year I'm doing a white pink and gold table layout.. just got my feature napkins to work from.. and then I'll start cooking.. then my family will come over .. i'll drink loads and fall asleep on the couch as usual because I ate/drank too much and can't move Smile

Hey that was gonna be my answer Laughing

Nah usually pretty sweet these days, normally spend it with my sisters and collectively we're all reasonably sane

Usually wake up hungover by my Mum calling telling me to get roud there, bacon and eggs for breakfast, Mum talks about how we should go to church, we exchange a few gifts, then head off to the extended family thing for Christmas dinner and a swim.

However the extended family is in tatters due to multiple divorces and remarriages, there are no more houses in Piha or houses with pools so there will be no Christmas Day swim, the patriachs and matriachs have passed on, and everyone is kind of doing their own thing with their new partners/families who aren't keen for them to hang out with their exs. So this year will be very low key probably just lunch at the folks then see which of the crew is also fre of Christmas duties and keen for some piracy.
[quote]
Lol Jono same here with extended family. Plus the ones we used to hang out with on christmas day now have 3276423764287642 kids and step kids and do their own thing.

BBQ at mine for lunch with my sister + fam, mum, boys parents and maybe my sisters sister in law too. Smile easy as this year. No fucking motorway cloggage for me!

This year I have to get up and get to the airport and fly to NZ. Should land about 5pm, so hanging with and staying with my Mum for the night, then the next day I'm seeing my Dad for lunch and then I'm gone burgers.

Looking foward to slowly making my way up north via Mt Eden and the North Shore Smile
[quote]
this year will be pretty fucking rank.
[quote]
It depends on who is in Auckland! This year mum is home from Oz, so I will be seeing her and that side of the family (mum's bf and his 3 daughters and my mum's sister and her family - thats a fuckload of wimmins). My sister is going to be here too but without the kids Sad The inlaws have buggered off up north so that makes it easy and dad is where he always is - Mangawhai. Don't see any other family, my family aren't the "getting together" type and husband's family all live outside of Akl.

Breakfast at my stepdad's followed by driving up to Mangawhai to have dinner with Dad and get crunk.

Hopefully I will wake up to a nicely cooked breakfast in bed. Play with my new presents and then head over to 46&2's house for orphins xmas celebrations. I tend to get pretty smashed, eat lots and then pass out on his bed.

All up it should be a dandy ol day ... expect it to be around 35C.

I will wake up when I get woken up pretty much. From then on it'll be immediate family stuff before heading out to Mum's cousins who I barely know for Xmas lunch. No doubt there will be a bit of chit chat, as with the exception of mum and her cousin, no one really knows each other. After a few hours we will probably head our own ways again where I will watch a lot of tv and wait for the day to be over pretty much.

Xmas day is one giant pain in the arse for me basically.

It doesn't bother me now, cos I don't care about Christmas but my feelings might change on the day..

Basically I got my wish of many years to NOT be stuck in some gay family Christmas as they are splitting off geographically this year but a mate who I was going to spend it with it turns out is ALSO fucking off down south with her estranged family for once.

Christmas sucks anyway, especially when ya single. Not big on family, I do like relaxing and getting drunk with a significant other though *sigh*

thank you Very Happy
was so awesome to get back into shape, something which ever-so-slowly started to die away with certain challenges mostly associated with student life.. I may go back there eventually however I discovered AUT gym has new equipment and it's an affordable $365/year so I can continue my training.
