What percentage of your friends..

.. do you think you'll still be friends with in 20 years? Define 'friends' however you like really..

I'm quite interested to see what effect social media has on this kind of thing. It was probably quite hard to actually maintain masses of friends as life goes on pre-fb, and even lots of close friends would drop off the cycle before once they move etc.

Certainly, the same ones I've been friends with for 20 years already.

I dunno about social media - certainly it makes it easier to keep in contact, but on the other hand just because I haven't spoken to someone in a while (up to a few years) doesn't mean they aren't still friends.

about 30%, which isn't a very high percentage but still quite a large number.

Of my 'mates' I'd be surprised if it was less than 90%. Of my larger group of friends I'd say about 30%.

There are plenty of people that I don't think I'd still be in contact with if it wasn't for social media. Many of these people are people that I'm glad I'm still in contact with.

Most of them I hope. I don't have a huge circle of friends, I prefer to have less friends that are closer than a big group of people I don't see much or aren't that close with. I've done that a few times before and not enjoyed it so much, too much drama :/

I know some of them I will always be friends with, and some, if either of us move away, will probably lose touch. I dont really consider someone a friend unless I catch up with them regularly. I think women see this differently than men because men will always be friends with someone even if they haven't seen them in years but women are more likely to demote people.

I don't think facebook will make much of a difference. You'll know what someone is up to, but you won't be hanging out with them. I think facebook means I see less of my friends IRL, because you have no need to catch up as you already know what they've been doing every day. Pretty sad really.

Girls have a weird and terrible attitude to friendship. I mean./...how many times have you known 2 girls to be all over each "OMG YOUR MY BEST FRIEND I LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH" etc
