They have squat parties all the time, but christ, you wouldn't see me at one of them.

It was a pretty nasty personal attack on someone I don't think you know, Nath. As for DJs playing, wouldn't have a clue tbh.

Prob just be recordings from underground raves oversea's playing as the visuals like the promo video's that were sent out and a ministry of sound sessions cd on repeat..

no offense to them, but the idea of going to a shifty warehouse in shifty naenae doesnt appeal to me whatsoever. the fact its in naenae alone kinda deter's me.

Up till then, it was a frickin sweet party. I was just getting into it, then the firehose thing happened and we all had to clear out. Massive bummer.

Several of the above comments are from people heavily involved with Xplicit. Judge for yourself how objective they are likely to be.

The warehouse is not in Naenae. My ticket info says Petone, within walking distance of the railway station.

I was thinking of going to Xplicit as well, but the negativity of the Xplicit promoters and DJs is kinda off putting. I want to have a fun night and try something new.

I've been told the names of some of the DJs by someone I trust (no I'm not going to repeat them here) and they're some of Welly's most respected original DJs plus some really good people who've been playing for the last 5 or 6 years. I'm tired of the negative shit being said by Xplicit people. If Xplicit is so good, they have nothing to fear. So much for them saying they want to support the scene and work together.

Promote your own gig, and stop dissing others. That's lame, cowardly and ultimately counter productive.

Actually, no-one who has posted is in any way involved with the organisation of X-plicit - they are fans, nothing more. Don't go assuming that X-plicits promoters are in any way involved with this online vitriol. Just clearing that up - otherwise, I pretty much agree with you.

um....OK, like Jamie just said above, Myself, Kenos, Jared and Jeff have not said a word on this thread, so nothing until this post has been said by the promoters for X-plicit, and I would appreciate you getting your facts straight before writing such things on here.
I do not condone ANYONE blagging other peoples parties on here, and some of our close friends have probably crossed the line with what they have said above, but I hope that was only because they know how passionate we are to our scene, and all the hard work we put into it.
We DO work with Crank, the Matrix Crew, Fevah etc to try to ensure this sort of clash doesn't happen as the scene just really isn't big enough for 2 gigs in the same weekend (let alone the same night) anymore, but as I hadn't heard about this gig until you posted it on here mbl then there was no way we could have avoided this situation.
Basically, I really hope both parties do well and everyone has a good night, and I ask all of the people that are pro X-plicit to channel your good intentions over to our gig thread rather than tarnish our name to people reading this forum.

seems strange that you dont even wanna say the names of the djs.....how will that encourage people to go to the gig if they dont even know who is playin....and if they are so respected wouldnt they already be known and play at all the gigs anyway?

I apologise to the Xplicit crew for suggesting they were the ones dissing this party. I thought some of the people replying were DJs playing at Xplicit.

I hope Xplicit goes really well and as I said, am hoping to make both nights.

What a fucking good night! I reckong there was around 200 people. The haters can stay away, they're obviously better to stick to their own mean-spirited world. They missed the best night in a long time and everyone who was there will tell you the same thing.

curious to hear from a few of the punters what their thoughts are on the gig - DJ's / sound / environment / facilities / crowd etc?

i would have gone to this but alas had another gig i was covering, would be keen to see photos as well.
