League: Cowboys rope Rovelli

Halfback Grant Rovelli is leaving the Warriors and will play for the North Queensland Cowboys in next year's NRL.

Rovelli, 25, made 68 appearances for the Warriors over the past three seasons and had a year to run on his contract.

Chief executive Wayne Scurrah yesterday said the club had agreed to release him early.

"We appreciate the great service he's given the Warriors and we wish him well in his career at the Cowboys and beyond," Scurrah said.

Rovelli has signed a two-year contract with the Cowboys, the club he played for as a junior.

His move is not a surprise, given the competition for spots in the halves at the Warriors next season.

Among the contenders are veteran Stacey Jones, who is making a return to the NRL, and Nathan Fien, who showed excellent form for the Kiwis in their triumphant World Cup campaign after shifting from hooker.

Good move for both club and player.

Yep good move. We hardly needed a log-jam of average halves.

Only fair play to Rovelli as well, would suck to be playing reserve grade all year

Rovelli will be cleaning Thurston's boots in 09. Unless JT switches to stand-off.

Didn't Rovelli actually hold a record for most consecutive kicks?

So, unlike every other warrior, he's actually won something?

That wasn't Rovelli.

PS. A bunch of Warriors players have been in championship winning teams. Take Price and Tate for example.

Incorrect.

Michael Witt almost acheieved that record.

Rovelli's claim to fame could be losing one's hair in record time.

But thanks for the service Rovelli, hopefully you can make a good fist of stand off, or interchange hooker at the Cowboys.

/slightly tongue in cheek, at least I never detected a hint of lack_of_effort/caring from Grant. He did ghive his all. Unlike the likes of Platt Neutral

Considering you've just proven how dubious your knowledge of any Warrior ever, you're gonna have to excuse us if we just write your posts on the matter off as complete and utter bullshit.
