i dont think i do.

whats your vote - yes or no?
[quote]
No, not really. Burnt out from it.
[quote]
NO.

i believe there is a God BUT i think religion is a crock. watch Stigmata & it'll all become clear Smile
[quote]
If people believe in God then that is a belief system in a supernatural force which strikes me as religion
[quote]
ok maybe i put that wrong. i don't believe in organised religion.
[quote]
Not particularly, but I also believe that people have a right to chose what they do and not be criticised for it unless they ram it in your face. I don't buy into all the anti-religion stuff at all.
[quote]
To be honest, no. But I respect people who choose to. Smile
[quote]
ditto JamesPratt.com...
[quote]
each to their own and my granny is born again and im sure she has a new lease of life because of it,
pity she cant convert me to be "saved" tho
[quote]
Somewhere along the line the point of this thread got lost.
[quote]
Are you joking smiley. I think this is staying on the point more than most threads in here, until now.
[quote]
yes JPratt, maybe u arent as big a pratt as u seem.

i respect those who choose to,

but i hate it when i get preached to...

dont you??

PS
Amen.
[quote]
Hmm, I thought it was a shot at vadinho for starting so many religion threads, thats all. Smile
[quote]
I'm only just shifting into second gear
[quote]
vaderhoe-

'a belief system' you seem to assume is something that is present if someone states they do or dotn believe in something...

a tad presumptuous perhaps? well, this would not be out of character i suppose...

isnt a system a sequence of related things?
[quote]
I want something to happen that would prove once and for all that God does/does not exist.
[quote]
Bker 13, it happens to everyone unfortunately once it happens u can't come back & tell everyone.

& if by slight chance u do come back everyone thinks your a nutter.

does that make sense?
[quote]
Biker 13, things happen every day to prove that God either does not exist, or if he does that he is a sadistic twisted maniac who doesn't value human life in the slightest Smile

In answer to the topic question: Yes I care about religion, but only enough to hate it.
[quote]
Religion vs Spirituality...big difference?
[quote]
possibly, define the terms minx2

religion: general definition: organised group of people beliving in a set sort of spirituality.

spiritulity: the idea behind the said group of organised nutters...

i believe in spirituality... but organised religion is one of the biggest threats to peace on earth.

a man with one watch always knows the time, a man with two is never sure.
[quote]
organised religion: where a group of people get together who potentially have the same spiritual beliefs.

firstly, ive got to ask why everyone is so against this. I know there are a lot of religions that 'steal' money.. what else is wrong here?

Also, some religions/ or churchs support their people and what they believe, which can be anything. people with all kinds of beliefs can turn up and feel welcome...

Do you care about religion?
stupid fucken question :/
[quote]
zeist..... stupid fcuken answer, why did u bother?
[quote]
No but when it's done right it can be an uplifting ting, phillie gospel choirs. the idea of faith and belief is a good un, Its a brilliant motivator. If youi really believe that god is looking down on ya then taking risks in life is tht much easier
[quote]
sorry dope.y

Just thort the way you frazd it was a bit silly. like, Do you agree with religion? perhaps...
i do care about religion..... but that doesnt mean anyhting really. kin my trip bruva>>?
[quote]
Um, I like watching gospel singers on telly, but don't have a religious bone in my body.

Having said that, I do think there is something out there watching over my Christian friend, who should have been killed in a car accident that saw her roll down a bank at 70kph, flip about 6 times and slam into a tree 50m down - and come out of it with a cut on her hand and a bruised chest.
[quote]
I think Spirituality is individual, a set of beliefs / thoughts unique to one person...and therefore flexible, constantly evolving and about "learning". Religion is quite the opposite. I am very spiritual. I don't practise a particular religion - though study different ones. I believe in bits and pieces of quite a few religions though not 100% of any. Confused? hee hee
[quote]
religon as a beliefs system yes....
I beleive in religon because it happens....

however, do I subscribe to the premise of
religon? Thats a good question. People all over
the world have differnet belief systems. For
instance....who do u turn to in your hour of
need?
Some people look for a higher power.
Me, I look inside, and believe in myself to pull
me through.
So, I have my own religon.
[quote]
equals spirituality...rather than a structured religion. Much higher level conversation than our previous Damien.
[quote]
confused? not at all minx2, maybe we should form and organised religon of people who don't practise relgion, hehehehe!!! nah... carry on the search bro, love ya!
[quote]
Although this is pretty harsh...I do sometimes wonder if those so dedicated to a structured religion are actually scared / incomplete and looking for safety. With some higher being (or representative) telling them how it is...they don't need to worry about finding the answers out for themselves.
[quote]
yeah....that it is Minx2...that it is...
wouldnt even bother getting onto this subject in
the lounge boards....
[quote]
Shall we though..just for a laugh? (joking)
[quote]
I think its called "sheep mentality"

there are no structured religions tha tI have
come across that I have any respect for( due to
corruption, misguided actions (ie using religon
as a base to declare war))

Read a book called conversations with god.
I think God exists....but not in the traditional way.
I think it is your own personal god inside you,
and noone shares the same god.
hmmm...hard to put down in text....
[quote]
Don't worry...I've read it! Also read The Souls Code...can't remember who it's by...but it's very good.
[quote]
damn girl...where u been all my life??

Blenheim?
[quote]
I will have to look that book up.....
amazon here I come!
[quote]
No, not that I don't think it is a good thing for some people....
[quote]
no no and no again
[quote]
zeist: sorry my fault, i mistakenly assumed that you could interpret the question as you pleased, however obviously in your case, given that you are obviously a glass of milk short of a thickshake, i will re-phrase in a manner you may comprehend:

Do you give a fuck about religion?

comprende?
[quote]
ps...

Minx/Damien, i agree.. some people need something to belong to, and they see religion as the answer
[quote]
People who need religion need safety and security, they are scared? No, I acually think thats really wrong, you couldn't have got it more wrong.

I dont give a fuck about "religion" as such, I do believe in God and I do believe that whatever you think, do or say, at the end of the day, he is real, your words or actions in life will not change that, he just is.

[quote]
Don't care each - for their own.
Maybe we should give up talking about it?????
Just an idea it seems that everytime I open current affairs there is some thread near the top on religion.....
Getting bored with the topic
[quote]
Spirituality, Religion, God, mystical powers, positive energies... - very uninterested, dont care. At least not enough to rant on about it. I've had it fed to me in various forms through out my life, and from a very early age I wasnt interested... so yeah, burnt out from it.

But,
grouping people who wish to be part of organised religion as sheep, pppfft. Organised religions have a structure and a history and great deals of theology by many people to back them up. Going out on your own means your dismissing all that in favour of path with no information.

However, having said that, to me it doesnt really matter, because while say, the Catholic church (easy example for me, being stuck in their school system etc) may have vast librarys of theological discussion and debate, its all based on the premise that God actually exists, and all the has been written is not just a load of bollocks. All that intellectual writing, whoof, gone like that if the premise is untrue.
While lots of philosophy is good n all, I personally prefer to have a vast library about something tangable and tested, not just thought about, no matter how many people did that thinking.
[quote]
Yeah, Jellybaby, so true.... I'll shut up about it now too. Smile
[quote]
In a word, no, don't really care too much about it. Each to their own I say tho, and if someone wants to believe in God, and the whole religious thing, then they can. Doesn't worry me in the slightest.
[quote]
just a question: to all those that don't care about spirituality, what do you hold dear to your heart? (no offense intended)
[quote]
dopespot. lets go have flame wars in the lounge ehy? sounds like fun ehy? leave these current affairs whores alone :/

Wink
[quote]
I dont have a problem with religion but I have a big problem with people who try to force their beliefs and ideals on others.
[quote]
I am scared now, my mum went all weird on me and told me she was "re-born".

I try and stay away from church but i have nothing against religion- same as Kyla as long as they don't try and enforce it on me.
[quote]
flame wars?

sounds like fun... yeah im over the religion thing, time for further nuisance causing....

ps
I agree with all those that have the 'each 2 their own' philosophy, i think thats bang on... just wanted to have a democratic vote ont he subject, after all, this is a democracy or something.
[quote]
NO I do not believe in god or any other type of religion.. Everybody can believe what they want as long as they leave me out of the picture..Smile
[quote]
religion = security blanky

We are born, we procreate, we die.... thats it. No heaven, no hell. No god - the forces of nature are a powerful thing, but please.... god Very Happy~
[quote]
Scifi.. exactly what I wanted to say.. good on ya :p
[quote]
No, not really. It's fun to argue about tho.
[quote]
Its bloody great aint it lollie!!

especially when vadinho gets rarked up!!

haha!
[quote]
No. But I enjoy taking part in debate over the
subject. the damn devil's advocate in me (no
pun intended....)
[quote]
i dont care much for it but respect others and there beliefs
[quote]
True
[quote]
thats right shaggy.. Im with u too.. always respect their beliefs.. but make sure that they will never try to get u to belive as well.. coz that's what I hate the most..if I dnt believe I dnt want to believe. Smile
[quote]
one word...

Amway.
[quote]
heheee.... we had family friends who got into Anway.. they used to listen to Amway motivational tapes in the car, EVERYWHERE they went... no radio for them... and they were damn near religios too - they almost got my Dad, before mum slapped some sense back into him... :0)
