My visa expires today and i had a trip all booked to leave the country and come back in from Dublin to London on a holiday visa. I have only been told that when you fly from London-Dublin and back its like a domestic flight, is this true??? do they have passport control when coming in??

I am coming back in to london up until 29th Aug then flying round europe until 7th then coming back into london again to fly out for Sydney on the 12th Sep

Does anyone know if staying for 11 days over my visa expiry date will effect me?

Any ideas please.....

You should be ok so long as you don't stay in one place longer than 3 months... (and don't look like you might be working or living there)...

London -> Dublin they check passports, coming back they don't (don't ask why Smile

You're entitled to 3 months after your 2 yours working holiday in the UK.. and actually can apply for 6 months... a lot of people do this actually

Thanks for that info

So does mean everyone has 3 months automatically after their 2 year working holiday visa finishes?? I thought you HAD to leave the country and come back in.

I think i will be fine, but the last thing i want is to not be let back in on the 7th to pack up my stuff and get my flight home from heathrow

You *may* have to leave the country, but I doubt they check it..

If you want to be really sure, you could try contacting the home office...

But yeah, i've heard of people doing much worse (and stupid) things and getting away with it...

mine runs out in two weeks

im going home because i had a trip already booked.

but then im going to china and japan before come back and head out to brazil then back again.

im not working in the uk between those times but i got hassled last week by the customs bitch who said i should have already left.

she said i wouldnt get back in, and that i should have traveled more because thats what the visa, according to her i wasnt allowed to work anymore?

Im sorry you fat hariy slag but when i last checked i was allowed to come and go for 2 years and work for years!

these customs people are fucking stupid, she then carried on saying i should go back to aussie?

I then asked her she was talking to be because niether am i from aussie nor do i have an aussie passport?

the customs guy next to her just laughted at her and told me to go through.

and you wonder why people get in with bombs!

nice one uk visa people, grow a fucking brain.

as for the 6 months extenstion, you need to send your passport into the home office, for 5 weeks.

to be honest with whats going on now, your probably better off just going out and coming back in and getting your passport stamped then and there than apply for the 6 months.

just make sure you have kiwi/uk bank statments for the last three months showing you have £2000 somewhere and an onward ticket.

if you havent got those then you might have some trouble.

true, i guess i just thought it was rude to ask them as i only want to stay an extra 6 months, but after talking to my manager, he says we just wont tell HR and then they'll sort it all for me Mr. Green

i've discovered that i can apply for what is essentially a 'de-facto partner' visa (boyfriend has a british passport). The work permit was going to be a bit painful, so i rang up and asked about the unmarried partner option, and she said that i could get 'switched' over to the new visa, after an interview, within 24hours!! (for a large fee of course), but all i have to do is prove we've lived together for more than 2 yrs - easy!! no need to prove that im the best & only person in the whole world that could do my job (the truth is that i am, im just to modest to admit it) Pink Winky ha ha!
