its unlikely it would be a virus but a nuke type thing might work - maybe data corruption in the gateways just sent something funny through and it crashed the phone.
Wasnt really talking about Trappers case specifically but just in general.
Is it really hard to code for cell phones?? what do they use?
Surely java based script(easy to use) could be used for cell phones that support it (heaps now). OR is it just no one has really bothered yet?
Wonders if cell phone companies are developing virus protection software yet??
i remember learning at uni that java was pretty secure... for example, web applets are unable access any information about the computer or run processes etc...
surely they've use the same sort of security for phone apps.
but no system's perfect and if there's a security hole it will inevitably be found eventually.
imagine having to have antivirus software on your phone...
Stoffz Conspiracey theory, major mobile phone manufacturers recruit top coders from around the world to develop virus's that can only be controlled by their anti-virus software. making a product that the customer has to buy...
A feasible concept would be carrying a laptop or pda with a Bluetooth adapter attached and scanning local areas for bluetooth enabled devices. My friend in the UK sits on the tube and searches for people with BT switched on and sends them random messages..

Heh so do I. It's amaising how many people have BT switched on and wait for someone to send them random messeges. They name their phone something ghey like "Jill's Phone. Talk to me!" and shit. Nothing else to do on the Tube I spose. It's a bit of a laugh
I on't know how you can define a virus that happens on a cell phone...
but my old 3650 died on me twice!
I think tha battery or the memory card was both in a sign of decay!
*Nokia sucks IMO from this very bad experience

I think eventually viruses on mobile phone will happen, but at this stage in NZ I don't think it's a problem....at least it's not a problem I am aware of.
