At work, we have a display which has input for just about everything possible, SCART, VGA, Component (?)

They now want a media computer and they want to run it through the screen. Which input type gives best quality, and which video card would be the recommended option. Will be running DVD, Presentations, and CAD.

if it's got a VGA in then use that, it should give the best results in my experience Cool

s-video (specialised plug) is better quality than composite (ie the RCA plugs). I dunno where VGa stands in that mix, probably better, but feck all TVs will support it.

If you are running it through a TV then it doesnt really matter unless the wires are quite long - in that case you get colour bleed. S video serperates the mono-cromatic from the colour and gives a better picture and sharper image, especially over longer distances.

As for graphics cards if you are going to be displaying media from the computer as well as the display (is it a plasma/lcd screen?) then its quite handy to use nvidia overlay features that transmits the overlay (the movie) to the tv output and still shows the full computer screen on the computer..

SCART is better than svideo (and is better for digital tvs) and svideo is better than normal composite video. Seperate colout R Y B is probably the best when colour shading is really important but i cant think of many situations when that is needed.

If it accepts VGA then that is going to give you the best and easiest reproduction of a computer screen in which case get a dual headed graphics card and you can send specific aplications to the 2nd monitor output so you can work in the back ground while giving a presentation.
