I know it's old news but jeepers! This guy just kills the competition. 9.72 in the 100m...ridiculous.

He's 6ft 5 and only been running the 100m for a year.

That is so fast the guy is awesome.

Not sure what the story is but a few weeks ago he was at a meeting and did something like 9.76 and got heaps of slack for it. No pressure, wind from behing and what not, most "experts" said he won't do anything close to that again

They say his body is perfectly proportioned for a 6ft 5 sprinter. He runs like someone who's 5ft 11. And still 21? Again, ridiculous.

Freaky thing is the only reason he's been running in the 100s is because he's using it as power training for his main event - the 200m sprint!

He's a machine. I'm hoping his team decides to enter him for the 100s as well in Beijing. He's looking like a good prospect for a double gold medal this year.

That is fast. Fucking fast. I would be about 20 meters behind him when he crosses the finish line. I run 100 in 11 secs flat. Fuck.

What's the for? He's was being a bad ass, and that was the most bad ass 100m of all time. Breaks the world record at a canter, BAD ASS!

Because I enjoy watching people compete to their absolute peak? That's what the whole Olympics is about. For someone to showboat and still break the record is impressive, but is hardly an admirable character trait. Also, it makes me think 'what would he have got if he tried the whole way?'.

He still has the 200m to run so it could be psychology, afterall everyone competing in the 200m will be in fear of the fact he just ran the fastest 100m ever at a canter. Now they have to race him over 200m and he might be able to whip them without even trying. That's a pretty nice psycholigical advantage to take into a race - especially when you consider 200m is supposed to be his favoured distance.

The Jamaicans are killing it...is this the beginning of the end of American dominance in the 100m?

He wasn't worried about smashing the 100m record. He is focused on his specialty event, the 200m. That's why he pulled back towards the end and showboated. Coz he eased off and still managed to tear everyone else apart....bad ass!!

A black athlete who showboats...that's a first.

But seriously folks, I didn't see any showboating. I just saw a guy who blitzed the feild and was stoked he just won the gold, with ease.

It's the 100m, name 1 sprinter that doesn't have an ego... part of the sport IMO

Are you happy with his 200m performance? He seemed more serious about that. He ran hard out to the end. And managed to get the world record that has stood for a number of years.

I read today that he's only been competing in the 100m at a high level for a few months!
