... failed to stop a flying shoe. What if that was a gun, or a knife or a steel edged shoe or something?

But perhaps the deepest, most burning question I have is... what happened to the whole Harrison Ford/Michael Douglas "jump in the line of fire and save your President" thingie???? No one took the shoe for him Sad

I imagine they would have stopped anyone from getting into the press conference with guns and knives. Shoes are probably a bit harder to police. Perhaps they could make everyone take their shoes off next time ...then someone will throw a pen or cellphone. Hardly going to do much damage.

So they're assuming that their 'checks' are perfect? That they're job's done at the door?

It's not what he threw it's more the fact that something was thrown and there was hardly any timely reaction at all from GWB's side. So if someone did manage to sneak in a knife he'd probably have been dead.

Meh... this was meant to be a pisstake anyway Razz

I knew it was but seriously I don't think anyone even cares about Bush anymore, not even the terrorists, they just want to see the back end of him...

Obama's security will be the tightest of any US president ever.

there is a rather large number of people calling for him and his cronies to be punished for their war crimes... course this isn't new... but as he prepares to vacate the Whitehouse and pardon all and sundry the cry is coming again... falling on deaf ears as team Obama prepare their own right wing agenda and wars

Well I'm sure there still a lot of people that would like to see him made to answer for his greater injustices but what I was really trying to say was that the mood of the moment is more one of lets just get this mess cleaned up and worry about what went wrong later.

thing is the mess and what went wrong/is going wrong are intertwined
