UPS's and power conditioners.

Its fucking increadible how bad power seems to be these days.

Ive had a history of computer part failures/problems at my place so i have a cheapish ups and have had for some time but it doesnt seem to protect my computers from problems as ive still lost nics hdds and psu's. So i was looking at a online ups which unfortunately cost $$$$ - i even loked at a 12v -> 240V AC 1000w pure sinewave generator and running it off my own batteries but its not significantly cheaper than an online ups... So i bought a APC 1200W power conditioner (which is like a ups only with a capacitor instead of a battery) for $140....

It clicks on and off all the fucking time but it doesnt cause screen flicker like the ups does when it cuts in so i guess its giving me more protection.

At work we have a huge power conditioners for the factory and at one point it was malfunctioning - we found out because we lost about 4 crt screens.

It makes me wonder how many computer problems are caused by power problems.
