Im looking at upgrading and am stuck on the same old point of AMD or Intel.

Im aiming at a quieter system than my current althlon one, so im considering a P4 2.8Ghz, ive heard they are quieter out of the box than an athlon??

The cosc labs @ uni are all P4's and a room full of them with A/C seems quieter than my current comp. Its kind of hard to compare though.

Would i be better of spending the difference on a solid case and a silent psu??

Also, any recommendations for a P4 mobo around the $200 - $250 mark?

Any help, ideas, suggestion will be greatly apreaciated. Smile

Those cube/ shuttle cases are supposed to be pretty quiet.

I have a athlon 2400 overclocked to 2.3ghz and 2x 80gigs raid0 and it still runs pretty quietly.

it doesnt really matter which cpu u run for quiet its the fan u have connected to it, run the standard fans and they are pretty quiet especially the fans with the p4, run say....a thermaltake fan at its 5000rpm min and its gonna make alot more noise.

and as for the motherboard, yea thats a good range price to be lookin in, go to http://www.pp.co.nz thats where i get my boards from cause they have a good range at some decent prices Smile
