I`ve just move to London and its crazy here with all the events, tours, gigs going on all the time Smile, both here and over Europe.

But I have no idea where to get a "heads up" that something is happening. Are there any websites or street media that I should be looking out for? for both dance and rock.
I get the TNT but thats pretty limited as its only a week by week thing.
Its quite frustrating cause I was always the one back in oz who knew what was going on and coming up all the time getting the inside scoop and organising my mates.

I need help!

for all things dancewise in London - www.harderfaster.net

They have a good what's on section for all types of genres but pretty much all London events. The forums can be quite entertaining as well.

there's also www.dontstayin.com which covers the UK & other countries but it's a bitch to navigate.

I agree with you!

Here are a couple of festival & concert websites to keep an eye on, Easpeically Glastonbury 2007. Anyone going there this year?

Thanks for the websites Smile

I`d love to go to Glastonbury. But 1st things 1st get a job then start organising the big missions.

NME will have all the listings for rock.

Look in Time Out for pretty much everything listing about everything! http://www.timeout.com/london/

Baynesy - two festivals for me this year. Glasto and Sonar. Maybe a few more EU ones if I get around to it/have the cash.

Spike - I'm very tempted on another mission to Glastonbury. Funny times in 2005 huh?

I'm thinking a Dance Festival will be on the cards this year after thrashing the Rock festivals.
[quote]
Yeah, Glasto 2005 was definitely an eye opener Laughing

Have been to a few dance festivals. Hated them all apart from Sonar which I'll stick my neck out and say I enjoyed even more than Glasto!

The dance festivals were no good? Whys that?

Got a link to this sonar festival?
[quote]
Yeah, definitely Glasto and Sonar (pending aquirement of tickets)

Am open minded about other stuff, but probably will just go along with whatever other people are doing Smile

Worlddj.com has a good London events guide of the upcoming parties at the major clubs (Pacha, turnmills, Fabric, etc).

DSI can get a little clambered up with the smallie parties that every promoter and his dog wants to promote, it's a little hard to read.

Just the chav aspect was enough for me. Everyone there seemed to be there way more there to get on cheap gear and "getting amongst it bruv" than anything else. Plus the music that's at the UK festivals is a little played out for me. Promotors seem to hire DJs based on popularity over talent. Which is fine but will always bring the chav aspect imo.

Sonar's not just about music (it's also multimedia), and has a very wide spectrum of music, from dub and jazz to African drum bands in the day, and house to techno at the night event, which I have to say was housed in probably the biggest rooms I have ever been in! It's not a camping festival (the day event is right in the middle of Barcelona), but it is very different. Barcelona also have many awesome clubs that take advantage of all the Sonar punters being in the city and have massive parties in the days leading up to it. Razzmatazz being 5 clubs in one and is MASSIVE! It also features on one of the new Vauxhall Corsa ads - http://www.salarazzmatazz.com/

Basically Barcelona turns into a big party town for a week while Sonar is on Very Happy

razzmatazz was mind blowing... never been to a club that's *anything* like that... we were there, and it was like "wtf, sonar hasn't even started yet!"
[quote]
I was in Barcelona at the start of last week and that place was very cool, I soo want to go back there in summer. That solar party looks like a good excuse

woops I mean sonar

Spain Rocks!!!

Has to be my favourite European country.

Don't forget about Dance Valley, the one and only!

My boyfriend and I went to Sonar last year and it was nuts. We didn't make it to Razmataz but we did go to the Kompakt party at the Nitzi (SP?) club which was awesome. We only went to one actual night at Sonar which was the big party on the Saturday. I have never seen anything quite so huge!! The rooms were so big it was unbelievable and the ceilings so high it was hard to tell when you were inside and when you were outside. Plus the bumper cars in the middle were pretty funny. I would go into detail but my boyfriend tells it much better, see his reviews in below link. And there is a moral in his run down of sonar for anyone going this year (which we def will again)... don't accept "presents from stangers"
