Banks and Hide are even less trusted than Mark Bryers.

I still think it's awesome that our MOST trusted person is someone who our government trained to sneak around killing people. THAT'S HOW WE ROLL.

I agree Kris. I have no problem with trusting someone like that. It's the people in broad daylight who make a routine of being deceptive/misleading - albeit often at a small level - like most politicians which I don't trust.

rob you know the sis are trained to operate ain all conditions and I'd wager in the broad light of day is not their favoured operating conditions

Would be interesting to know the methodology, to assist interpretation of these results. A surprise that Key is so low, as he is popular (i think? - 60% in Jan most recent stat i can find in a hurry). Apiata? Well i guess that's contextual, he'd be trusted to be reliable in fighting on "our" side.

Pretty sure Apiata's ranking comes from the exact reason he got his VC - at extreme risk to himself, he saved his mates life. *That's* trustworthy.

Apaita got his for the same reason Firemen are regarded as amongst the most trusted people - because theirs isn't a commercial pursuit and involves potential dangers every time they go to work for us.

Also, as Kris says, the methodology is very suspect. They chose the list of people and they are ranked by the people polled. As the Dim-Post article says - it is obvious some people on the list suffer because many people polled wouldn't know them from a bar of soap.

Another problem to add to those identifed in the dim post is the representativeness of readers digest readers

I note with interest that as usual, you're comparing totally disparate situations.

There's a big difference between a "hero fighter pilot" who was hugely successful as his task, and someone who did something do deserve a VC.

I was definitely pleased to see that my new career is highly distrusted.
Actually being psychic I pretty much knew this and its all part of the challenge as far as I am concerned.
