well i got a phone call today to confirm my set at this gig on the 16th of feb in the hard trance room.

This is the first i've heard of it and for those of you that dont know me i play funky house along the lines of bevan keys.
when i mentioned this to the organiser they said"funky house will be ok".
I have since looked at the web page and my nickname of "The Rev" is listed in the hard trance room already.
The bugger is,I have a sat residency which I love,and have heard nothing from anyone ASKING me to play.
What up with that?
Input anyone?cant really see myself playing"starlight" at the staircase,can you?

well i've been there thru the whole saga babe, and as far as i am concerned it is a travesty. it is stupid to put someone on your flyers and then confirm with them after teh flyers have gone to print. especially when you are a house dj, and not a hard house or trane dj, and to put u in the middle of them is just dumb.

The organiser obviously hasnt doen much organising or promoting in the past, and really needs to do his homework before doing something like this.

i know of 2 djs who were "booked" for it before they even knew about it.

well i think that these promoters should do something worthwhile rather than assume all djs are hard up for work. and will be grateful for their name being on a flyer!

this still sucks! Gav has now rung the guy to say he cant do it cos he has other commitments, and now the guys saying the flyers are already out hope thats not going to be a problem....

Stupid people make stupid parties... I think they need a serious heads up on how to deal with promoting parties like this!!! I can see this being the first and the last of the TTN parties!!!

just tell them you'll only do it for X amount of dollars... whatever you feel like charging them.. hehehehe

The price is ridiculous. RIDICULOUS... when you consider alternative events with all local DJ's.

Exactly, that's what promotors aren't realising these days. The local talent is fascinating, and classy! You can check out House of Downtown for $10 at Bed, or the cream of the crop at events like Deep Hard n Funky (depending, of course, what you're into)... for about $25!

More and more of these over priced gigs are being ruled out by everyone - because it's not even like you get what you pay for..!

new thread in dancenet guys-thanks for all the input so far-great to see that the core of the dance scene is still not driven purely by the quick $$ sign.

After all-its about the music,the vibe,and most importantly,the people around you.
This is only acheivable if we all respect each others principles,morals,and goals-and do so without stepping on people or using their avenues to achieve a ego boost for ourselves.
I'm feeling quite strong on this whole subject.

you know dpt, my thoughts exactly. how stupid do you have to be to just assume that the djs will do it if you print the flyers, and to pay them a day before, and NOT CONFIRM ANYONE, let alone ASK them if they wanna play in the event, and not even know what kind of music the djs play that you have "booked" and "confirmed"
