Trance vs House( its changing)

Has anyone else noticed that the House gigs are more popular than the Trance gigs?EG/Deep Hard and Funky,Nice'N'Urlich,Velvet etc

Quite even here in Welly I think . . . but I don't really end up at either type of gig so who am I to talk?

Does it matter at all? I still think there are far more large trance events than house ones. But house is gaining popularity.

House is becoming too commercial and thats the problem right there.

Im gettin a little bored with house.
Its still my preffered genre, but its just
not doing much for me anymore.

I rate a gig on quality sets & the right vibe
not the number of punters it pulls.

House gigs seem to be really friendly, about the music and the perfect place to just sit and chill with friends when you're done with the dancing ... trance just isn't relaxing enough to do the same thing and once you've had ya dance its definately time to go home or change venues

i know i may cop a bit of flack for say'n this but my opinion on house is its a social sound e.g in a small club chatting to ppl with a glass of bubbly trance on the otherhand is music with emotion,

but for those people whpo really enjoy music for the energy to dance house just dosnt do it for me
also it seems all they play down in welly is progesive or house, there is nowhere to really enjoy trance or hardhouse every weekend

House music is all about vibing, grooving, loving each other and most of all the music. You simply cant get that at a trace/hardhouse gig it all seems about energy, and everyone seems to be in their own little world and not very sociable. The reason why i think house gigs r becomin more popular is that as house these days is becoming more radiofriendly etc more people are chosing house as their music of choice. The only problem though is that well as house and house gigs r becoming more commercial well so is the atmosphere ie compare the old dhf compared to the "super club" dhf experience at the Saint James and tell me which one you prefer

nah i disagree - people at trance gigs seem pretty social and friendly to me.

People r social but its a totally different vibe there not one as social as a house gig but yes it does depend on the gig

I say that good music is good music.

you combine that with people that are there to enjoy it and you can't go wrong
Listen to whatever makes you feel good, makes you feel like moving...

I agree with you to a certain extent. However you don't have to look past trance events such as Slinky which massed approx 5000 people plus Two Tribes, Gatecrasher's and many others we have experienced this year and other events years before which thousands of people have gone to.
But these are superclub names and events which are always gonna attract people.
Huse events also attract lots of people like as you mentione DHN'F, N&U etc.
I think one reason why house events may be more popular could be that in general tickets seem to be cheaper? (correct me if I'm wrong). Perhaps this is because we have so much quality and talented local talent which we support without having to or needing to see so many internationals, however they are much appreciated when they arrive to our shores!! eg. Deep Hard N Funky was $25 with an early ticket versus $50 for Gatecrasher.
However, NZ also has some wicked trance dj's also that never fail to impress us on a regular basis.

There seems to be a lot more local house dj's than trance dj's.

Will people stop mentioning "trance/hardhouse". They are not the same thing, and in my opinion couldn't be more different!

I'm in a bit of a quandry about superclub styles. On one hand, I hate being 1 person in a sea of 5000 but on the other it would be O.K. with the right DJ (and, O.K. the right drugs).

But overall, I prefer the intimacy that House gigs tend towards. Its a comfort thing. I like seeing people more than once in a night!

Maybe this is a good place to register my total boredom with having huge venues and 80 DJs. I would settle for having 1 international and 2 locals in support. Good on the Funk Factory for taking Velvet back to Toto's! They were my favourite parties!
