Mayor Brown says a tram loop up Queen St, along K Rd and then back to Quay St is being looked at as part of extending trams from Wynyard Quarter to Britomart.

It takes at least 15 min from britomart to k road on the bus during busy times. If the tram could potentially do this quicker I think it's a good option.

based on current pricing the Queen Street to K Rd tram should cost travellers $75 one way... with a $3 discount to Auckland rate payers and Gold Card Members

trains not trams - stay on target or we'll have neither (refer to auckland)

Skipping way ahead here imo. Yeah, I want trams/light rail to return, but we need to time our run.

*City Rail Link is still the major priority, and other expensive spending prior to that makes it less likely. "Oh but you've got all these trams! You don't need a rail line too!"
*There's still a LOT of low hanging fruit around bus services that can improve them out of mind.
*Removal of private traffic from Queen St would be priority #1.
*Returning trams should be very carefully planned with routes selected on merit. To be honest, I'd start by extending the Wynyard loop first to Britomart, then along Tamaki drive. Would be a superb combination of tourist route AND public transit.
*If we instantly replaced buses with trams up Queen St - you wouldn't see fuck all time difference, street-trams still only travel at the same speed as other traffic, still have to stop and pick up passengers, still have to stop at lights on the cross streets. Now the City Rail Link on the other hand, would only be a handful of minutes Britomart to K-Rd.
