PHIL K
In the early 90’s Phil’s name became synonymous with the bigger clubs in Melbourne such as Chevron, Inflation, Chasers and Metro. His unique style kept the dance floors filled. By the mid to late 90’s, Phil had a reputation to die for and had his own radio show “The Friday Tapes” on Melbourne radio station Kiss FM, winning the ‘Best Radio Show’ in Australia’s 3D Dance Music Awards 2001. Phil’s career has now evolved to playing at festivals and major regular events such as 33 1/3rd, Gatecrasher, Big Day Out, Vibes on A Summer’s Day, Universe 2002, Two Tribes. He has recently completed a world tour including performances in the USA (Chicago/Miami/ New York/Washington/Atlanta /Gainesville) and Asia (Singapore/ Kuala Lumpur/Tokyo). His “Sound Not Scene” compilation has earned him ‘Best Compilation’ (DMA’s). Phil K is currently ranked as the #13 DJ IN THE WORLD (Juice Magazine) and listed among the “25 most important people in Australian dance music” according to MINISTRY magazine. His set is progressive, break beat, electro, tribal, tech house and trance like sounds... all mixed into one dance floor erupting journey. Phil’s tunes have earned him the respect of supporting such high profile names as Adam Freeland, Freq-Nasty, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Craig Richards, NuBreed, Paul Oakenfold

As a producer his first release released in 1997 "Summer Breeze" was part of a three man team (with Ivan Gough and Andy Page) called Free Radicals. It was signed for compilation usage by Ministry Of Sound and went to No.1 on the KISS90FM chart, reaching number ten on the UK Mixmag Update Buzz Chart and received five dancing men reviews in Update....TWICE!!!...not bad for a first effort! Phil formed a new partnership with Andy Page. Under the name Hi Fi Bugs they produced and released their first single in late 1999 "Lydian & The Dinosaur", a progressive track with nu skool breaks that debuted at #13 in UK's 7 Mag Buzz Chart & five star review in UK's Musik Mag. He has started a new house project with Ivan Gough called “Dark Alley” and they have completed 6 remixes and are currently working on their first single…At the time of writing Phil has 4 forthcoming releases scheduled for release in 2002, not to mention the other projects and ideas, the next twelve months will ensure Phil’s reputation as both a DJ and quality producer is recognised globally.
Phil’s outstanding technical skills on the Pioneer DJM 600 Mixer and EFX 500 Effects Unit (his favourite toys) have led to him being toured at least once a year by Pioneer to showcase his skills throughout Australia and Asia. (most recently showcasing the latest CDJ 1000 late 2001). Phil K surprised the designers with inventing tricks that they even hadn’t anticipated regarding its capabilities, performing effects and tricks which he calls “real time loop sampling and editing”. Phil is now incorporating a sampler into his set playing his own “test ideas” which then become records and new and wonderful remix creations.
