So, who is gonna go to the BDO anyway? And what about that int DJ, i've never heard of him, ignorant? maybe? can anyone enlighten me??
[quote]
I dont think I'll be going.
Not really my kinda thing!

But if a group of friends went and shouted me a ticket I'd go! :p
[quote]
Well Kyla even if a group of friends shouted me a ticket I'd still not go.
So you know what not to buy me for christmas
[quote]
Damn there goes that Christmas present idea!

:p
[quote]
OK, so, checkpoint charlie it is, thanks guys, I now know what I will do :o) I'll dance in the forest until the sun comes up. rather nice way to spend the evening :o)
[quote]
can't wait to see Prodigy again, the've brought the house down both times, hope they'll have some new material though, last album was what 3 years ago?
[quote]
Just so you know Andrew my man, the Prodigy's new album comes out round the same time.
[quote]
I would definately agree with you Bliss, Checkpoint Charlie all the way!!!!!!! Nothing like Raving outdoors in the Y Y YYYYYYYRARAPA!
[quote]
fuck yeah, prodigy (-1) NoFX!!!! who cares about ther rest. be there I say
[quote]
not going - far too expensive and i've got better things to do and yeah well i'll probably end up going but at the moment it is a no
[quote]
from what i've heard Dave Clark plays along the same style of some of hard Technos fav producers eg: adam beyer, jeff mills, marco bailey and cari lekibusch, not a sound that is that well established in akld, but runs tings in wellington everytime Fun Poisen parties come around Very Happy BOO! dem parties are well wikked

the mans soo fucken good that most of the dnb peeps in UK big him up! scrummage around Audio galaxy and try and sort yourself out witha set ya'll cos hes worth it garanteed!

EZ all techno hybrid massive

Danjah
[quote]
bdo should be made an r18 to stop all the little white pants slappers getting drunk then having to be carted away make it r 18 and let the party begin
[quote]
Are the Ozzie BDO's R18?
[quote]
yeah mate good point
[quote]
and btw prodigy last album not including the mix cd was of course fat of the land which was released in 95.
[quote]
Dave Clarke...a tune that reprezents his style well would be his remix of Midfield General's 'Coatnoise'. (MidGen being the owner of Skint Records, Fatboy Slim's boss). Soulful, yet pure banging techno as well. You can download a sample of it from http://dancecity.net/thahouse/beagle02.html
[quote]
Don't think I'm gonna bother this time round,
BUT ..... there will no doubt be more acts
announced as it has been in previous years, so
I won't be writing it off yet. Have mentioned that I
want the day off to the boss - even if I don't go,
someone will prolly pay me to work for them.
nice....
[quote]
im gonna hold out till they release a few more acts... paying just under $100 for a couple of acts is a bit too much for me, but do love the whole "outside in the sun" atmosphere that comes with the BDO Smile
[quote]
i'll get a free ticket anyway, but i think i'd go anyway. once you get over nofx, the bogans and the kids, it's a pretty good day out. basement jaxx are heavily rumoured, and new order really clinched it for me this year. Stick to the dance tent and it's all good (until u go outside and see it's so sunny).
The oz event is also R15 Smile
[quote]
Well it's either work, or groove it out in the dance tent, so pretty easy decision
[quote]
didnt Basement Jaxx play like only 2 yrs ago here??? im sure they were on earlier before Chemical Bros in the Boiler room...??? Smile ahwel they got a new al;bum since so should be aiiiite Smile
[quote]
'where's your head at'!!! basement jaxx would be primo! also, i think it should be r18 too. did anyone else fill in the big day out survey a while back when they were seeing if they were still going to have it or not?
[quote]
Yep, I did that survey. Can't remember what most of the questions were. I believe alot of the problems came from too many yound kids going up the front when they couldn't handle it.
[quote]
Stop the mosh and bring on the dance....

problems solved
[quote]
yeah its a must go to, even if all the bands suck, its always fun to hung out with frinds in the sun. and going hard in the bolier room. go the bolier room.
[quote]
Heard Dave Clarkes latest offering ("World Series" me thinks ) and was quite impressed, will definately be sumfin different for BDO. Still, lets be honest, prices are going up and qualitys going down- put bfm back in charge. Unless I can score a free ticket like last year, i cant see it being worth it, even with NOFX on the bill. Of course a few more top notch acts could twist my arm
[quote]
Seems the BDO has never been that great since they seemed switch their target market. Remember "Channel Z is the BDO!". What a load of bollocks.
[quote]
I remeber BDO two years ago it went off. I think it was the year that Goldie and Basement Jaxx played. Holy shit-it blew me socks off.
[quote]
yeah that year was 2000 that was fucking awesome!
fucking everyone was there, i dont think we'll get a better line up then we did in 2000.

p.s please oh please bring basement jaxx over here god, i missed them last time, and half of chem bros cos my then ex gf wanted to c the chilli peppers, which was all good but im still sad that i missed some of my favs.
[quote]
the Jaxx always knkow how to get the crowd rockin - can't say that I am overly impressed with the new album though - it's called Remedy. Hot track is Jus one kiss!
[quote]
I haven't been in about 3 years.. normally theres only one or two acts I wanna see so its not worth the ticket, the day off work, the queues, the scores of drunk kids... sigh...

Sure I wanted to see Carl Cox, but I couldn't handle it just for Carl Cox last year, ditto with Dave Clark. Oh, and I saw Ronnie Size for $5 the night before.. How many times have I dropped that in.. heaps cause it was fucken magic!
[quote]
Remedy Darkside? Don't you mean Rooty? Yeah it is a pretty good album. Basement Jaxx apparently played at Feel the night before the last BDO. Anyone go?
[quote]
i'm a firm believer that the BDO is a must every year....last year the line up wasn't that great, but I got to see a heap of local talent, as for the kids, just submerge yaself in the dance tent and you won't even notice them....
put me down for a ticket santa...
[quote]
The 2000 BDO was O for Owsome. I had the best fuckin time, and I have firm memories of it being the first time I heard "Communication" be played by Sample Gee! (Somebody answer that fuckin phone.) The new Basement Jaxx offering is called 'Rooty' and the old album was called 'Remedy'.... Their album before that was 'Atlantic Jaxx'.... I've heard that they might get their own gig (Carl Cox, Goldie style etc) brought to you by Lightspeed (Cheeky Monkey) but this is again just the rumour mill.... I've heard some of the other gigs comign for the BDO but I'm sworn to secrecy! But I'm definitely going this year, best of all I work for the council so I get freebies. Also, the 2000 BDO was said to contain 48000 people, but in reality it actually had just about 80000 (the council own Ericcson Stadium, so that is a fact. No shit..)

[quote]
I guess I'll end up going, I always do. Even if you aren't going to see any particular bands/DJs, its always a good day out. And the atmosphere is the boiler room is usually good.
[quote]
well id have to say that the big day out is a great experience even if ur not into most of the music. i have just over a year ago changed my choice in music from ska and alternative to dance music. i went to the last bdo, and i still loved. spent a lot of time in the boiler room but its great sitting out on the grass by the green stage and essential stage. a great place to chill and dance about when the sun is setting. it's such a great thrill. if its still not sounding like ur cup of tea then try a couple of chemical enhancers, they're sure to help u get more into it.

i wouldnt care who's going to be there, i pay for the great day and atmosphere, stop being so picky about the acts, cause wen it comes down to it, atmosphere is just as important as a good set

there's some food for thought
[quote]
i think the bdo with the chemical bros was the best, 2000 - sellout. it was insane!!! 40,000 people i think?
[quote]
Yeah I fullu agree with you guyz the BDO this year is far too expensive... and for what???
[quote]
for what you ask Numba1?? BDO is such the best day just perfectly planned for you to hang out with ye mates and go crazySmile ....Numba1 does this ring a bell to you at all...... yay we can just go and play on all the rides like last year!! hehe, Numba1 im sorry but YOU ARE coming to the BDO with me this year weather you like it or notSmile
[quote]
can ppl pls stop using the dancenet for a lil posts for ur friends. go to the lounge if u want to have lil conversations and feel proud that everyone can read that u have friends on here. a board is a place for opinions, not for chats
[quote]
read my whole post renaissancer!!!! if my post was the one you were referrring to! the beggining was simply answering Numba1's question! nothing wrong with adding a little bit on the bottom now is there! im sure you've done it or are you simply jelous at the fact that you have no friends to post to??!!!!!!
[quote]
I am only going for to the BDO for NOFX.

This dickhead today told me that DnB is mainstream...I kicked her azz
[quote]
Well i have read some of the messaages and i have to admit there are some sorry fucks out there...if you dont like New Order...well then shows your 18 yr old age and attitude and if you dont like Crystal Method well then you really are strange..i loved vegas and there latest absolutely rocks!!and well its a pity that prodigy havnt put anything new out but well ..they rocked the other times they played.
[quote]
On another point what pisses me is the inflated egos of some of the local DJsand how the promoters seem to be on the lets get on the band wagon and exploit it all the way to the bank dance scene.
E.G big price and urlich charging the same as a world renowned and international DJ like Roger sanchez..i just cant understand..maybe i missed a meeting but i thought they were limited to N.Z and havnt made it overseas and yet they are charging the same.
Promoters as well the fact that there is just SO MUCH ON and yet some of the prices and then the goodies required and then even just a bottle of water..what a joke!!!. if you compare it to the U. K its 10 quid to get in to a club with awesome Dj the Goodies are dirt cheap...no wonder i cant wait till after the summer and then go overseas.
The brilliant thing i cant wait for is all the free dancing in the streets uptown sounds and summer series ..thats waht it is all about meeting ppl GROOVIN and listening to awesome sounds...instead of lining some TOSSERS pockets...DHF for $25 now thats good value and the way it should be.
Or someone thats made it overseas like Freq Nasty $25 that fucken rocked tooo !!
[quote]
Grumpy grumpy...

I saw Freq Nasty for $5 ... did I mention that?

Dave Clarke (from allmusic.com)
One of the most respected (and idiosyncratic) techno DJs and producers in the '90s, Dave Clarke began his music career as a hip-hop DJ in the mid-'80s, shifting to acid-house and later rave near the end of the decade. He began recording for Stress (as Pig City) in the early '90s and also appeared on R&S, XL and his own Magnetic North Records. By the mid-'90s, he had gradually shifted away from rave to a brand of straightahead techno with the ferocity of hardcore yet the sublime feelings of classic Detroit techno. A series of three singles named "Red" gained fame during 1995-96 (the last went Top 40 in the U.K.), as did his ferocious DJ sets.
Clarke's phenomenal album debut Archive 1 appeared in 1996 on Deconstruction. Demagnitized, a compilation of his earlier material on Magnetic North (with additional tracks from Cristian Vogel, DJ Hell and others), was released in 1995. Clarke also mixed two volumes of the crucial electro compilation series Electro Boogie for Studio !K7

Dave Clarke (from skint.net)
Biography
Since Dave Clarke's debut album 'Archive 1' back in 1996 which contained one of dance music's greatest electronic anthems in 'Red 2' the Clarkester has gone on to become one of the world's most sought-after techno producers and almost certainly the genre's biggest DJ's, taking his uncompromising underground style around the globe.
Dave can be regularly seen DJing, it is estimated that he travels at least 800,000 miles per year to hand picked gigs at some of the world's best clubs. Regularly playing at the UK's Bugged Out!, Pure, Atomic Jam, Barcelona's Nitsa and Belgium's Fuse.
When he's not DJing in the world's most groundbreaking clubs he's in his studio producing his radio show 'Technology' that is currently being syndicated worldwide. He has even filled in for Annie Nightingale on Radio 1 with a 13 week stint and recently acheived a childhood ambition of playing a live mix Peel Session with the one and only John Peel in attendance (and 150 mad clubbers!). Last year he won the Essential Mix of the Year Award at the Muzik Awards. The word 'justice' springs to mind.
Last year also saw a limited 12" on longtime friend HellSs International DJ Gigolo imprint as 'The Compass' created so much interest that Pete Tong begged to get a copy and then made it essential new tune. This was then swiftly followed by the unusually titled 'Before I Was So Rudely Interupted Parts 1 and 2' available only as MP3 downloads from iCrunch. Displaying his electro and then techno side the amount of requests for the tracks would have dented the UK Top 10 if made more regularly commercially available. But then don't expect Dave to do the norm.
We're proud to announce that we've now signed Britain's finest techno DJ and producer Dave Clarke to Skint. "I've always liked his records and he's from Brighton" says Skint MD, Damian Harris. "A perfect addition to the squad. Also it was the only way I could get a copy of The Compass!"
"Techno's coming home!" said a delighted Dave when the deal was clinched over a cream tea in Rottingdean.
Dave's first release for us will be 'The Compass'. Featuring new remixes by Josh Wink and Terrence Fixmer, it is set to hit the racks in November.. Dave will soon begin work on his debut album, due for release in 2002.

i'll be there Smile

i dont think ur a grump morpheus. i think u've made a valid point. just because u put out a couple of cds, doesnt mean ur the shit. internationals are paid a high price cause
a they have to travel all this way
b theyre usually in high demand.
holdup, i just thought of something. might it be the venue that's pumped the price up??
[quote]
great MR Phunky Dave...you can take me next time then if you like ..i see that you tend to have a habit of getting in to these gigs for unbelievable prices...its a matter of who you know though i suppose not what you know...as far as Dave goes i dont know much personally but some friends who have great taste in music think hes great...so it should all be good....Trippin and a bit of mEtHoD will be very nice in fact fuckn rockin
Its nice to have an intimate atmosphere but is the grand circle going to be big enough for Derrik carter ..excuse the spelling
Im goin to DhF Velvet and i would likie to go to DC and then the big day will be smirnoff half day off then the dancing in the streets with...wait for it!! house of Downtown ,Angel Roger Perry and the ever present personality and great track selection but cant and havnt ever heard him play a set without fucking it up mr Mikey Havoc hahahahahaand then on to Roger sanchez...so does that sound like a fantabulous day or WHAT!!
I think the Grey Lynn fest and Velvet are on the same day toooo!!
[quote]
SANCHEZ will go off!!!!!
i heard yesterday from the st james that tickets are rocketing already...six weeks out. must be the tv coverage and his blinding performances last times he was here
