just got back from melbourne & managed to go & see Jody Wisternoff from Way Out West play an impromptu gig @ ROOM in Hawthorne {niice club by the way}. He played for 2 hours {2am-4am}.Played a good set, bit cluttered in some parts {think he was trying to be just a tad to clever - didn't gel that well!!!},but that ain't the best part........................at 4aa some other geezer jumps on the decks with a black dreddlokked dude in tow & starts laying down some seriously dark, twisted fucked up beats {a W.O.W mindcircus remix I ain't never heard-big smiles on Jody's face!!!}. Then another bloke gets on the mic "put your hands together for Jody Wisternoff from W.O.W. {big applause} and please welcome as a surprise......... Mick & Mick......Or more commonly known as......PARKS & WILSON!!!!!!!..............FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWK ME...................2.5 more hours of some of the darkest, funkiest most fukked up prog I have ever seen.............better than Xmas.............So there u have it........now excuse me while I go & deflate my head a bit!!
p.s.I wish u were all there....sic......

Raoul... would you recommend the Parks and Wilson CD? I'm thinking about getting it. Glad to hear that you had a phat night! Melbourne kicks ass!

yeah rando..... he did play on more of the melodic tip........but he was getting quite involved with his sampler & i dunno if it wasn't performing or what but it caused a few hiccups during his set....doesn't matter - was wicked to see him play anyway {he really gets into the music & has good crowd interaction [and a honey of a girlfriend also!!!]and was full of smiles-always a good sign} & the bonus of seeing P&W was the cherry on the top!!!!! those guys play some nasty chugging prog with lots of wicked breakdowns & scary noise sortashit...... if you want to check out some photo's go to "inthemix.com.au" & go to melbourne & check out photos - me and the wife are in there - last photo on page 2
I wish more of the internationals that went to oz would come over here - they're getting them all the time - we've got to get more people into prog to make it worth their while - forchrissakes - if Nick Warren can pull in 4000+ punters why cant the less well known dj's pull in 500 people - just shows u what people go to these gigs for - not the music obviously - RANT RANT RANT - sorry....just pissed that all these fuckin' excellent dj's get so close to our doorstep & never get here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway i'm very tempted to go back next week & see Dave Seaman & the same club to release GU22.... again...... why the fuck isn't he coming to AK as well........ AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHH

2hoary - yup - very good cd - have been caning for the last 2 weeks - but only if you like the "dark side" young Luke!!!!.......of the proggy side.......its not like Deep Dish or anything.....a lot darker......suits an old d'n'b head like me down to the ground...... but definitely try & get hold of Vapourised3 - vapour recordings latest compilation from oz - the first 2 were done by Kasey Taylor but this ones by Andy Jarrod & Mark DiCristo/Highland.......very nice........
