Tidy Boys statement

Dear Tidy faithful,

Clearly there is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Tidy and the Tidy Boys and so now that we are clear in our own minds about the situation it is important that we offer you an explanation.

People have always presumed that Tidy was owned by the Tidy Boys, however it has always been owned by the Music Factory Entertainment Group, of which I was a director until recently.( I personally moved on in August of this year to concentrate on u-xplore ltd which is my own company focussed on education software.)

Amadeus was a long standing employee of the Music Factory, working in a creative capacity from 1991 until he left last year to equally focus on his own company ('Motel Red'), as well as develop projects with Addictive Interactive. Amadeus never had any ownership of Tidy but was central to its development and passionate about its success.

We started Tidy Trax in 1995 as an outlet for our studio work and over the years developed Tidy into a great hard house brand as a result of the team at the Music Factory, the infrastructure it provided and a whole host of Tidy staff and producers who played their part.

From the humble beginnings of releasing one record (the Handbaggers – "u found out"Wink
To creating one of the most iconic clubbing brands of our generation, everyone involved can be incredibly proud, as indeed we are.

So... to fast forward to today, now we have reminisced and appreciated the ownership of Tidy, we firstly owe an apology for misleading everyone about the ownership of Tidy in my closing speech at TW15. It is fair to say we peaked early (which is a problem Amo does suffer from) got carried away with the moment and announced that we had bought Tidy with our partner and friend John Davis from the Music Factory. However, although the deal was well progressed it had not been finalised and subsequently fell through for various reasons and consequently the ownership and control of Tidy stays with the team at Music Factory. And so we learnt a valuable lesson that night not to shoot your mouth off until you sign on the dotted line, and for that we apologise to Music Factory and you the Tidy faithful.

Where does that leave the Tidy Boys now?

One thing was true, the Tidy Boys are taking a step back, as I need to concentrate on my business and be dad to 3 kids and collectively we feel it is time to do more selective gigs and focus on some new ideas that we have a direct control over. Consequently we will not be playing every week and doing those long cross country drives with Gay Darren trying to get to a gig in Bude but instead doing a few bigger gigs, a few festivals, a bit of Ibiza action and some special events.

As our proposed buy out fell through we felt it best to take a step back and allow the Music Factory team to take the brand to the next level and we genuinely wish everyone well with the future development of Tidy. The addition of Garbo to the team is a great move to work alongside Sam and Sara and the wider Music Factory team. Magna sounds like an exciting opportunity to relive some of those past Tidy highs and although myself and Amo have some great memories of those Magna gigs we will not be able to play this one due to a prior booking.

Regarding TW16 this was certainly part of the plans, as announced at TW15 but when everything fell through it became a victim of a contractual situation between Chic Talent and Music Factory and so consequently a different weekender event is happening which is a totally different proposition to a Tidy Weekender, as it would be crazy to try and replicate it.

We will continue to work with our new management team at Chic Talent and have some exciting projects lined up for 2009 including for the first time our own events where you will be invited to "The Friday Night Affair" with the Tidy Boys for something a little different and we have a cheeky little idea for your to slip back into those cyber outfits and experience something the Tidy Boys are loved and hated for.. a night we will call "For HEAVENS Sake"!

We are saddened that we no longer have a direct involvement with Tidy but will continue to play as the Tidy Boys and fly the flag wherever we go but obviously have no responsibility for the direct output, so please don't ask us for the line up for Magna as we don't know!

Comment from Amadeus

Andy and I have only ever had good intensions for Tidy; we attempted to buy it for the good of the brand rather than any major monetary gains. Although I conceived the Tidy brand and its ethos, Music Factory was always the backbone behind the madness, over the years and we have been blessed by working with the likes of Paul Janes, Richard Skaife and Simon Paul in the early days - and growing into a vibrant collective of 17 staff at one point with key elements such as Lee Haslam, Kelly Dayus Cook and in the later days Sara Gleahall. All these people and more have been behind this label and it's a shame the way something's work out but that's life and you have to adapt to the current climate.

I know as Andy has said have other businesses and love being in the creative and design industry, however my love of music, DJing and being in the clubbing environment will never die and that's why I'm very excited about a number of projects for 2009, not just Weekenders, Ibiza Boot camps and new club nights... but also the chance to get back in the studio to produce again.

So from here we move onwards and upwards and wish Tidy and Music Factory success in its future projects and we look forward to seeing you all at Tidy Bournemouth next week and throughout 2009 for some more nonsense from Mr. Pickles and Mr. Mozart aka the Tidy Boys!
