The IHC is seeking a lifeline from the Government as it grapples with the implications of an Employment Court case which could bankrupt it by forcing it to pay $80 million in backpay and an extra $20 million a year in wages.

So it turns out that 'sleeping over' is classed as work at minimum wage ($12.50p/hr wow), where as staff were generally paid a nightly rate as low as $34 p/night. At an hourly rate that's pathetic, but let's be honest they were only sleeping- something they would have been doing anyhow.
Do you agree? Do you think the govt should step in?
My biggest concern is that now the IHC will go under and getting paid $34 for a night's work will be the least of their worries when they're all out of the job... let alone the serious lapse in care that the patients might incur.
