I remember when this happened and the amount of public outrage aimed at Scott Watson......if he's been wrongly convicted due to some police b.s. then this is really bad. I would've thought this sort of nonsense would have been ironed out after cases like David Bain's....

after arthur allan thomas you mean

yeah really stupid but you gotta remember the huge pressure the police were under

imo there was a false premiss that a double murder had occurred
[quote]
its super stupid to make the same mistakes over and over again

our police it seems are masters at this

murder trials without bodies and virtually no DNA evidence = risky

Watson should have got a retrial years ago

Given when this happened David Bain was in jail as a convicted murderer I don't think they were too concerned about taking a convict this man approach rather than investigating the disappearance of the couple. That said, some of the conspiracy theories that surround this case are a little far fetched so I don't really have an opinion on whether he's guilty.

Interesting you say that because I remember BG saying in a discussion on this a while back that as far as she was concerned the trial was fair and the correct decision was reached by the jury.

The trial may have been fair - but by the sounds of it this report is more scathing of the police's methods to secure a charge in the first place - rather than the trial itself.

Well yuo could argue that if the police methods to secure a charge weren't fair, then the there's no way the trial could've been.

inputs produce outcomes and all that

this may seem odd to you, but lawyers actually can have different opinions Wink

bg was working for the prosecutor in that trial at the time she opined that as I recall
