I love how Kerri Chandler is still #1.

I like the fact that 'House' still got a what looked like your 'classic rock that rocks' cliched mullet, black tee shirt wearing middle aged man.....tapping his foot when I was playing at Beerfest.

Small win.

Yes, getting to see Motor City Soul and The Revenge shortly. getting to play in Japan later on this year and some gigs in my new home town and heaps of good music out there to play to educated crowds. All good imo.

And I love that Chandler will still play Luther Vandross in the middle of a set and absolutely destroy the dance floor.

Dude. I bet even Prince sits at home listening to Chandler records wondering how he can be that cool. Music

And 'The Old Office' from The Thing For Linda EP. MASSIVE deepness. One of the only tunes I could play at the Box and then walk through to Celebre and Bevan would be playing it too..

Rob - I remember a night at the Box in about 97 or so and the DJ played Mousse T's 'Horny' instrumental version....was that you?

Yes. Greg and I both played the original of that and the flip 'Bad Boy'. It wasn't even the instrumental at that stage as it was the only version - was a good tune. And then a year later is came out with a vocal (Hot'n'Juicy!!!). Christ that was garbage.

Lots of tunes from that era were like that that... Heller & Farley 'Ultra Flava', Pete Heller 'Big Love' etc. I guess they just had to have a vocal added to have a chance on UK radio.

ain't a 'pop' record without a vocal - ie radio/chart/tv et al

witness the countless crimes against good tracks on defected/MOS et al

The worst one I can think of right now is Cosmos 'Take Me With You'... when they added the Roachford vocal - WTF were they thinking? Shocker.

Funnily enough - Ce Ce Peniston 'Finally' didn't have most of the vocals originally either. It was very different.

The only place that vocal works is in the
2 beat breakdown before the chorus. I have to agree
the rest of the vocal is pretty damm awful. It's a pity cause the music is really good.

I wish the Box was still open, low ceiling, really dark, you had to squint to see the dj... I had some of the best house moments of my life there!
Elements...omg! "chink chink chink chink chink chink chink chink chink chink chink chink"
